Does anyone have WPA health insurance ? Question re Gp service

Hi all, I took out WPA Health insurance recently and I have one pre-existing health condition which I know will be excluded from the policy per se - bunion left foot. This has been going on for years!

I’m really really struggling with bunion pain today, actually hobbling about in tears. I know the remote GP service is pretty flexible and I wondered if I might be able to use this to get pain relief for my foot today (I could pick it up from Tesco’s today) while I await my next nhs appt?

I can make an appointment on the app right now… I just don’t want to end up being charged for it! Basically wondering if I can use remote GP line for help for something that’s otherwise excluded from my policy, given that the remote GP service is a little different and I need to pay for the prescription anyway. Thanks!

(I have tried to ask WPA customer services and they’re not available, and I can’t find anything in the wording about this)

All I can find is this in the FAQs, which suggests that they don’t deem the GP consultation to be “treatment””

Can the GPs issue referrals to specialists?
Should the GP feel that a patient would benefit from a specialist
assessment or further treatment they can provide an open private
referral letter. This referral is for Private Medical Care only and will
not be accepted for services in the NHS. Referral letters can be
posted or emailed directly according to patient preference.
Please note the private referral is not a WPA claim authorisation.
Patients will need to contact WPA prior to receiving any treatment,
unless self-funding.

I don’t know the answer to your question but Dont forget it will probably be a private prescription. If the pain is that bad then just go for it or go to your local walk - in clinic (sorry about the use of that phrase).

My local walk in is an hours drive away sadly !
