Does it matter how much experience a dentist has when replacing a tooth with an older, large white filling, for a silver crown?
I have a very new, lovely dentist who has offered this option, to reduce risk in future of tooth splitting and maybe being irreparable.
I had some very bad medical experiences including a cardiac ablation with a very inexperienced and poorly supervised doctor, in which she did 3 really long burns within the left ventricle of my heart whilst I was fully conscious and under anaesthetised; and unable to speak for the pain, or make any movement to stop her. The Consultant was arrogant, indifferent and not paying attention.
During that op, I saw the cardiac monitor veer towards chaotic rhythm like the cardiac arrests I treated as a paramedic, and was later diagnosed with PTSD. So I am more wary of inexperience than before.
I am also on benefits having lost my job after cancer treatments so I have the option to leave filled tooth as is, and hope for no unrepairable problems, or get this done by someone with less than a year's experience.
I dont know the skill landscape; how often things go well or badly after silver crowns go in, or how much skill is needed compared with other dental procedures.
If it was you or your family, what would you do?
Thanks
