…would you heat it up and eat it for lunch today?

Obviously been in the fridge (at the back - hence forgotten!).

Has quorn mince, onions, carrots, chopped tomatoes and a cauliflower and cheese topping if that makes any difference Grin

3 days is the limit for food in restaurants etc. But that is extra safe as they potentially serve people with health conditions, six month old children, people who are 105 years old, etc.
If you are reasonably healthy and your fridge is nicely cold you can definitely stretch it to five days, providing it looks and smells good and you heat it thoroughly.
Three days has become this iron rule for many people because of the hygiene rules in commercial settings, but it really doesn't apply in your homes. Restaurants can't use milk past the use by date either, but you absolutely should at home, subject to sniff test. Such a terrible waste otherwise.

I agree people need to use their nose rather than ask on here.

Saying that, I wouldn’t and I do hate food waste and have an iron gut. But I wouldn’t eat soggy week old stinky cauliflower or anything with quorn in it. Ugh.

I’m with you on Quorn. Awful UPF stuff. Why not just eat lentils or cannellini beans? So much nicer in so many ways.

I would

I would.

SauvignonBlonk · 21/03/2025 13:20

Sunday to Friday is too long for me.
Quorn is a fungus based food. This would go in the bin now.

Derbee · 21/03/2025 13:20

3 days max is the rule in my house

DustyMaiden · 21/03/2025 13:22

No, it’s not worth the risk it would kill my appetite.

Tdp123 · 21/03/2025 13:22

I've just eaten left over chicken curry I cooked on Saturday - didn't think twice about it.

Flutterbees · 21/03/2025 13:26

A lot of bacteria in food doesn’t have an odour, so using your nose is irrelevant. I’d bin it.

Yes this.

No - and I think I’m pretty relaxed on food hygiene.

3 days is fine, 5 is not

This. I think up to 3 days old is ok but no longer.

DazzyRascale · 21/03/2025 12:25

Thanks all. Just got it out and it smells totally fine. Still pondering…

If it was just veggies I'd risk it, but not with Quorn. You're only meant to keep it for 48 hours once cooked.

upinaballoon · 21/03/2025 16:26

You were considering having it for lunch. Did you? Are you well? Are you in hospital? Is your tummy feeling a bit queasy?

henlake7 · 21/03/2025 16:47

That wouldnt bother me at all. I regularly batch cook (vegan) meals, chuck it in the fridge and eat it over the next 6 days.
Nothing ever looked or smelled bad and I have never been sick.
Only thin Im ever suspicious of is the soya milk in the fridge at work...and thats because you really cant tell if its bad by sniffing it!!LOL

MarchHare339 · 21/03/2025 16:54

I would. Just make sure it’s piping hot.

upinaballoon · 21/03/2025 20:10

Come back to us, OP, it's past eight o'clock.
