I wouldn’t, I think it will be very busy

Xiaoxiong · 21/03/2025 07:45

My train (which goes through Hayes, where the fire is), is fine. My other line through Clapham Jct appears to have some minor delays but that's as usual.

I think you'll be fine. Most flights out of Heathrow are international and not easily displaced onto trains, people will probably just not travel today - who knows, maybe the domestic trains will even be quieter than usual.

Sunflowersinthewind · 21/03/2025 07:46

Where are you travelling from? A fire at Heathrow isn't going to disrupt the railway and no one wanting to travel by plane can easily use trains as an alternative?

Wowzel · 21/03/2025 07:46

I've just got off the train in Paddington and all looks ok for a socialising and shopping day

Fuuuuuckit · 21/03/2025 07:47

Eh?

People have been categorically told do not go to the airport. That doesn't mean London will be any busier than usual. Nobody is going to be doing tourist stuff and clogging up transport with suitcases?

pearbottomjeans · 21/03/2025 07:48

No one will be heading to or from Heathrow other than a few who were already at the airport I imagine, although they’re probably home already. So shouldn’t be busier than usual? Can’t get to Heathrow destinations via train so I’d imagine it would be fine?

saraclara · 21/03/2025 07:49

I'm struggling to think of any reason why this would affect trains.

WildBluebells · 21/03/2025 07:50

I’ll be going from Milton Keynes to Euston an easy short journey usually

I suppose i thought the power outage could affect the train stations and London in general
and more people trying to get on the trains etc

The power outage is localised to Heathrow. It won’t affect Euston. You’ll be absolutely fine

Talipesmum · 21/03/2025 07:53

If the power outage was affecting the train stations that would have been announced separately, and I can’t see why more people would be trying to get on trains because of Heathrow closure - most is going to be international so trains won’t help. Just head in, should be same as usual.

Fagli · 21/03/2025 07:53

Heathrow isn’t near London. The airport power distribution isn’t connected to London train stations. I don’t think this will have any effect on the volume of people in London. Enjoy your shopping.

Liondoesntsleepatnight · 21/03/2025 07:54

London is going to gridlocked by forlorn people with suitcases.

minnienono · 21/03/2025 07:54

Into Euston should be fine, anything from the west could be affected

HelenWheels · 21/03/2025 07:56

as long as you are not going passed gatwick

WildBluebells · 21/03/2025 08:01

Thanks for your advice, I’m going to follow it and head in, I’ve checked national rail site and all trains are on time and I’m heading north to south
mk to London

i might even get a last min ticket to see a show today, was thinking titanique, it’s only me in my own today tho
went ti the cinema on my own recently too and felt quite good after so might do that this evening
but look round the shops today and have a nice lunch

thank you

I really don't think it will make a difference
