What about a root veg mash?

getahhtmapub · 21/03/2025 00:52

Note that corn, carrots and sweet potato can be pretty high in carbs. Other root vegetables can be too such as Swede and beetroot but celeriac is fine.

my go to is cauliflower cheese (floret the cali and put raw into a baking dish. In a pan fry some garlic, add a wine glass of white wine and reduce. Add half a bock of Philadelphia, a splash of cream and some grated cheese. Melt. Pour over top of cauli add grated Parmesan. Bake for about 30 mins in a hit oven. Serves 2-4)

Jamie Oliver green bean salad

baked mushrooms

celeriac and cauli mash

celeriac dauphinois.

Is this a joke your body needs carbs just don’t eat more than two portions a day

A selection of green veg either steamed or stir fried so peas, mange tout, thin strips of cabbage.

I agree ratatouille would also go well.

I guessed around £75-£95 before I read the answer. I think that sounds about right. There are too many variables to make accurate comparisons though, brand, packet, size, variety, quality etc will make a huge difference. Especially for things like meat, tea, coffee, cheese, fruit.

We've found Lidl to be no cheaper for what we buy, in fact the packet sizes tended to be smaller. Perhaps because we dont buy brands anyway? Asda we found to be really pricey for our shop.
