I’m trying to get a grip on my binge eating and I’m finding listening to podcasts keeps me distracted.
Ive been listening to a mix of mystery, history, interesting stories and true crime.

Ive tried morbid, Redhanded, cautionary tales, happy never after.

can anyone recommend anything they’ve binge listened to and loved?

Lady Killers, Lucy Worsley
The first 2 series of Uncanny (wouldn’t bother with 3 and 4)
You’re Dead to Me
Conversations from a Long Marriage

I really love Cautionary Tales on the podcast section on R4. Stories of mega scams and eff ups. The one about the air crash n Tenerife had me gripped.

Histories Secret Hero’s is a good one too. Sorry, I see you’ve listened to Cautionary Tales.

Rabbit Hole Detectives with Charles Spencer, Richard Cole and Cat Jarman is a good listen. New one every Wednesday

I like Mr Ballen. He does all sorts of stuff like true crime, people going missing, weird deaths etc.

MagentaRocks · 20/03/2025 13:09

Agree with Mr Ballen. Also Annie Elise and Kendall Rae - both do true crime. Mr Ballens are a bit shorter than the other 2. All are very good.

If it bleeds, it leads podcast.

Bad Women - series one is about the lives and backgrounds of the Jack the Ripper victims, and series two about the victims of the Blackout murders in WWII

Fall of civilisations
time suck

both of these ^^ have long episodes but are engaging

stuff they don’t want you to know - conspiracy type stuff but not on the manic side and pretty balanced

The bbc has some good ones, ‘the coming storm’ is good.

behind the bastards is good. I think I prefer the older episodes but on the whole they’re pretty consistently entertaining.

I like The Rest is History, The Rest is Entertainment and The Rest is Classified.

I also listen to In Our Time - they really cover absolutely everything

Strangers on a Bench

Strong Songs - breakdown and examine famous songs (such as You can Call Me Al, Single Ladies, Where the Streets Have No Name)

The Dollop. Two comedians discuss weird stories from American history. It's both politically enlightening and hilarious at the same time.

If history isn't your thing, there are more modern episodes. Try the Steven Segall one, it had me gripped.

The Food Programme on R4 is good.

SunintheFun · 20/03/2025 17:55

Serial and the other NYT podcasts are good. Interesting subject matters and well produced.
