Travel insurance query

DH and I have a foreign holiday (in Europe) booked. We then took out travel insurance, which was expensive as I have some medical conditions. However, since taking out the insurance I have been diagnosed with a new medical condition - no symptoms, it was found during a routine pre-operative assessment. (I had declared the forthcoming minor op, day surgery for something completely unrelated, when buying the insurance.) It could potentially be quite serious but can be successfully treated with medication - I’m waiting to discuss it with my GP.

Do I now need to tell the insurance company about the new diagnosis? I can’t ask them whether I need to, because once I’ve told them I’ve told them!

Grateful for any knowledgeable advice.

Yes, but depending on the condition they may refuse to insure you. If this is the case argue for the remainder back. #beentheredonethat

Yes, you need to declare any new diagnosis and any new investigation underway.

If you don’t, and require treatment when abroad - even for an unrelated issue - the insurer can claim that they may not have insured you at all had they known about the new condition, and therefore your policy is rendered void.
