Narrow access road to the car drop off/pick up area. Parking area at the top. Can drive back the way you came or there is another road off to the side. Parent stops before the side road, blocking cars behind, waits for her children to walk to her car and slowly get in. Everyone else stuck behind waiting to get up to the parking area. Nearly honked, but thankful I didn’t as shortly after one of her kids fell out while trying to close their door. The lack of consideration is next level.

i know, a side road, not a main road, surely? so people can just walk out in front of cars and risk an accident, i dont have confidence in the white van behind me tbh

Rule H2 (Pedestrians Crossing): Highlighting that at junctions, drivers should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross on a road into which they are turning.
The 2022 Highway Code says that if pedestrians have started crossing the road and drivers want to turn into the road, pedestrians crossing have priority, and the traffic should give way to them. Lastly, when it comes to pedestrians on a zebra and parallel crossing, drivers, motorcyclists, and cyclists, must give way to pedestrians waiting to cross.

These are the rules, a driver behind you would also see pedestrians crossing and realise you’re not going to just drive into them

ignoring the rules is probably what provoked the V sign and it’s not the pedestrian that is entitled jyst because they want you to follow the rules

Urgh some of the drivers at my DD’s school are the worst. There is a very wide pavement opposite the school gate, and some parents park perpendicular across it every day. Today a woman actually beeped her horn at the people walking along the pavement because they weren’t moving over for her to park on it. Then she just kept nudging her car forward so people had to move, until she was parked perpendicular to the road, covering virtually the whole pavement - if you’ve got a pram or wheelchair, absolutely no space to get past. I very loudly (but also quite passive aggressively!) said to my DD as we walked past “some people park very selfishly because they think they are more important than other people”. But I doubt the stupid cow honking at children walking on a pavement gives a shit.

Ha.

I live in between two junior schools- one 300 metres away, and one 600 or so metres away (although around a corner).

From the school 300 metres away- using the space across my dropped kerb as a parking space, using the large corner pavement as a parking space (on it), parking across two corner dropped kerbs, arriving three quarters of an hour before pick up and sitting with engines idling (all year round- heat in winter and air con in summer), letting their dog shit in the middle of the pavement, letting their kids scoot blindly ahead across all of the drives while they chat with their friends, standing chatting with their friends in the middle of my drive as I'm trying to get into it and glaring at me for having the temerity...

From the other school- mainly just parking their cars all over the double yellows, or on corners, or just slowly cruising around the congested end of the road. This despite the fact that they actually have a dedicated pick up spot behind the school which they can circle.

Some parents are either selfish all the time or just lose their heads a bit when it comes to their precious little darlings.

But thankfully not all of the behaviours all of the time. And in school holidays it's blissfully quiet.

You just don’t get it do you

yet you’re the one with a driving licence

Thankfully my DC have left school now but we lived beside their primary school for a few years and it was utter chaos every day. Sometimes I couldn’t get along my road to get home even half an hour before the bell because of people parking all over the place and blocking the road.

Probably the worst one we saw was someone parked on the main road that went past the front of the school. But instead of parking beside the pavement, they decided to park across the end of a side road beside the school, totally blocking the exit of that junction. Their front left tyre was the only thing close to the pavement at the corner.

you’ve been pulled up on your driving and you attack the messenger- try reading the Highway Code and drive safely- a car in the wrong hands can kill

Its not just the ones that drive
on the bus this week which stops directly opposite the school where two selfish parents and their offspring nearly knocked me flying because they couldnt wait five fucking seconds for me to get off the bus when i was sat nearer the front before rushing from the back with their equally rude kids and scooters, treading over bags that i had in my hand they were in such a rush
Someone with mobility problems would have stood no chance They park in the car parks that are provided with our flats from 2.10pm onwards and just sit there
