When they said they was making one assessment for pip and lcwra does that mean if you lose pip you also lose lcrwa.
Will this only effect new claimants or also people renewing pip
I just wanted the question answering if anyone knows not pages and pages of people's opinion on disability and benefits tia
Also before anyone says anything i do work

Mine is under review right now. I’m assuming they will look to downgrading my scores so they don’t have to pay it.

PocketSand · 19/03/2025 10:12

The Green Paper has now been published so some points can be clarified.

It seems some things will only be implemented after consultation but some are being introduced through a change in legislation.

What’s not clear to me is the knock on consequences to losing PIP daily living element and impact on other benefits received as a consequence. So I assume you would be no longer eligible to claim CA if the person you care for loses PIP and that person would no longer qualify for reduced or no work requirements.

If DS1 lost his daily care element at reassessment if his points were reduced, would we as a family face cuts to PIP, ESA, and CA?

I wish the government would understand like for me when I reduced my hours to part time I actually work more then when I was full time and was constantly of sick and being hospitalised. If they take away my pip and lcwra I would have to go back to full time which I can't do and will cost the government more in hospital admissions and sick pay

If I lost CA I assume that I would also lose the carer element of UC (before they deduct CA) and would have a requirement to look for work?

DS1 would still need the same amount of care. I thought we were hard done by only getting the pittance of CA - I didn’t realise they were the good old days!

BeArtfulOrca · 20/03/2025 08:59

So, am I right in thinking that if you have only 2/3 points in each section for daily living pip, you loss pip and Lwrca? Even if you score 10 points in mobility for not being able to leave the house you now have to go out and work ?

skintasabint · 20/03/2025 10:19

My cousin has messaged me saying he is losing his pip in 2027. I’m assuming it’s when he goes for his reassessment?

Will they wait until then to remove his money or will he be reassessed now?

If he’s not due to be reassessed until 2027 then his payments will continue until then and if he submits his renewal there’s a good chance it may be renewed if nothing has changed. There’s no reason to jump to assuming he is going to lose it because of things that have happened this week. He may score 4 in one or more areas next time.

Normallynumb · 20/03/2025 13:07

Yes it means exactly that. On reassessments due after November ‘26

Then I wouldn't be able to get to hospital appointments, pay for aids etc

@Differentstarts
i know and it’s outrageous they’re not thinking about the impacts, or they haven’t published their statement yet
we will know next week.
The green paper is only a proposal right now but I’m incensed they can even consider this is ok.
my personal situation will be devastating if this goes ahead
PIP enhanced on both
ESA contribution based LCWRA which is dependent on receipt of 4 points in one question on daily living
I’d literally lose 50% of my income
im 60, with moderate Cerebral Palsy and bipolar disorder.
i was frozen in fear yesterday but outraged today.
My 10 year award due reassessment January’26

Normallynumb · 20/03/2025 15:11

I’m sorry you’re so stressed.

Normallynumb · 20/03/2025 15:13

Apologies if I’ve missed it but when is your pip renewal due?

I have bipolar to plus other conditions I'm on high rate and lcwra but I don't trust the system that they won't just take it all away then I won't be able to afford to live and will end up homeless. I work part time and it wrecks me I literally can't work anymore then I do. When iv tried in the past I just end up in hospital

I don't really think there's been much detail yet. and will take ages to come in. The new rules for PIP will be form Nov 2026 so will apply to new claims and re-assessments form then. LCWRA rates are being frozen I think from April 2026 .No idea if they will keep rising if you ahve PIP. It's all just so up in the air at the moment.

It's not even been said that contributions based ESA is ending or being based on receiving PIP as far as I know?
They are talking about replacing CB ESA with a health insurance payment but I doubt they will suddenly stop ESA payments for existing claimants. It sounds like going forwards new claimants won't be getting them at all even if like me you've worked for forty years. My dh has significant health problems and this would have been our fall back for if he could no longer work but not able to take his private pension. Now this option seems to be going despite him working for 45 years non stop !

It could change again in that time try to live and enjoy your life. Deal with whatever comes when you have to. I am in my 50’s now and it’s been a hard lesson for me to learn but try to live in the moment worrying about stuff that has yet to happen and is out of our control is not going to help.

OP is trying to just trying to understand it. Saying ‘just live your life’ isn’t helpful. Yes we could all be worrying for nothing or we could all be up shit creek but OP just wants to get their head round the proposals.

I wish it was just clearer on what they actually mean. Like if you just get the mobility part but not daily living do you still get lcrwa.

I think it has been made clear that you will need to get daily living PIP to get the LCWRA. Mobility alone. will not be enough. Like I said above though it's not clear whether if you lost your daily living PIP because you are due to be re-assessed for that first, whether your LCWRA would end immediately or continue because you are an existing claimant or whether it's just for new cases of people on UC so basically they won't get the LCWRA until they have PIP daily living in place and even then it's at a severely reduced rate to what it is now.

HollyBerryz · 20/03/2025 15:47

Does anyone know who or how they will be deciding if you're fit to work or not?

So how are people supposed to pay their bills

People will still get basic UC and help with rent etc. Of course we know that often isn't enough to live on .

I totally understand what you mean.
I’ve just rang PIP for a points breakdown to see what points I got in 2016.
Please don’t overthink though as the bill has to be passed in parliament first.
Their communication is shit
