Food intolerance testing?

Hi
I suspect I may have an intolerance to something, not quite sure what, either dairy or gluten.
My friend has just had a private test done (£180) and it's come back she has cows milk intolerance. I have seen you can buy a test that requires strands of hair, has anyone ever done one of these?
Thanks

They're scams, you can't test for food intolerances through hair.

You need a blood test really. I suspect those kinda test your friend has done are just fake and say the most common intolerances

There are no reliable tests for intolerances. Exclusion diet is the only way to 'test'. The bonus being that it is free!

I found out I was lactose intolerant through an exclusion diet.

If “intolerance to gluten” means “is there a chance I’m coeliac?” then there definitely is a set of definitive tests, starting with blood tests. And these must be done whilst on a diet containing plenty of gluten or they won’t show the correct result.

Yes, fair point.
