@Cottagecheeseisnotcheese the format of the first sentence often indicates if it's a person. When it is a person, the format normally goes...... Name, (brackets) is/was, a/an, nationality, professions.
With this one, the nationality was "an 6" so in the back of my mind "Indian" was a good guess. Then when I see 11 or 13 letter words where the profession is described, that is quite often philosopher or mathematician. So a reasonable guess for this one was that it was an Indian philosopher. I would then have googled as I don't know any Indian philosophers with that amount of letters in their name.
I often won't take guesses if I have a good idea of what the words might be, I would rather use my guesses to try and directly guess the TARGET. Sometimes, this works, and when it doesn't I just go back to my starter words.
