My GP says general aches and pains normal?

I am 27. I went to see my GP last month because in the last 3 months, I have generally been feeling a bit odd

I I notice my joints feel stiffer, I don’t feel as ‘supple’. It’s hard to explain. I wake up now and feel like death, never refreshed

No changes in diet or weight
No changes in how I sleep. Or what I sleep on (mattress is only 12 months and good quality)

I just feel older! And I am a young woman at 27, aren’t I?

My GP looked a bit smug when he told me ‘You know Sophia, aches and pains do start to creep up on all of us. You will feel differently to how you did at 21’

Since when? What on earth is the difference between 21 and 27 when it comes to general health and ageing? Surely there’s nothing in it?

So yes, he sent me on my way but told me to come back if the fatigue when I wake up becomes hard to function in the daytime. It doesn’t, I’m fine when actually up and showered but feel like my body is screaming at me beforehand to stay and rest

I also keep jumbling my words and forgetting things. Like I’ve got baby brain (didn’t have it when I actually had my baby years ago now).

Nope. I had this with a different type issue. Told incontinence was normal for women as we age. I was 21. I took this as gospel because I was 21. With hindsight I don’t know why. Only discovered it wasn’t normal when I was pregnant 10 years later. I am now waiting for an operation because it got worse over the years. Do not get fobbed off.

I felt like this in my early 30’s, it was a vitmain d deficiency. Easy fix for me. I definitely used to get the odd twinge in my back in my late 20’s but you shouldn’t be feeling like that imo.

I’ve been fobbed off for over 20 years with similar shit and just been diagnosed with Ehler Danlos syndrome and ankylosing spondylitis. Feeling worse when you wake up and better after you e got going is a bit of a red flag for inflammatory type pain such as AS or RA. I’d be wanting more investigation. The other stuff mentioned such as checking vit d and thyroid levels as well. If everything comes back clear then maybe think about Pilates???

You've experienced the classic gp dismissal. They really don't like to listen to women when we tell them something is wrong. Go back again and persist.

I've been repeatedly dismissed by Dr's. Was told my broken ankle was a sprain....but it was actually broken. Was told my dd didn't have a seizure....so I filmed the next one and got told off for not making it clearer to them. Told I probably didn't have a uti or thrush when pg....but they'll test me anyway....guess what, I did. Had one gp who kept telling me my rosacea just looked like sunburn (it didn't) and I had to see another one to get some treatment. It's a shock to me if I ever get a Dr who actually listens to me.

Definitely go back.
