Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot, in silence. The kittens have vanished off upstairs somewhere & the girls are still sleeping so it's lovely down here 😊

I have absolutely no plans for the day, other than a load or two of washing & thinking about tea later on. I think I might upload a handful of things on Vinted, read some of my book, watch an online training video for work, and make a slow start on some more peg dolls. Most of that can be done sitting down 🤣

Dd2 is off out today with her friend. They always wander up to the big Tesco for a meal deal or snacks, and head to the park to eat. She'll probably be back quite early so she can get an early shower and wash her hair (it's really long & takes ages to dry).

Dd1 has homework to finish off & will probably spend half the day mooching doing not very much else.

I have no idea what's for tea - nothing was taken out of the freezer yesterday & I cba to look what's in there yet so 🤷‍♀️. Whatever it is will be followed by an early shower, some sort of sweet treat, and an early night ready for work tomorrow 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning Lucysmam and all .

Pleased that London went well for you @lucysmam

Slightly hungover here as went out celebrating St Patrick’s Day ☘️ yesterday .

Another cup of tea and then I’ll get lots of housework etc done .

I’m going to take my dad out for a roast dinner later so no cooking for me tonight 🙌

Have a great day everyone 😀

Bluevelvetsofa · 16/03/2025 11:09

Vacuuming and dusting done, bathrooms cleaned. Men are doing the patio, so up early.

Need to go and buy more milk. We underestimated how much tea they drink.

I have a jumper to sew up, about which I’m procrastinating, because I hate doing it. DH is messing about with chargers and switches because he intends to put some lights under the kitchen cupboards.

TheChosenTwo · 16/03/2025 11:12

Morning all!
Just had a brunch made by dh and I’m going to walk and pick up the car from where we left it yesterday, it’s conveniently near a sweaty Betty and there’s a sale on so I’m going to buy myself some new togs to replace some of my old faithfuls.
Well have a roast later and I think I might use the hot tub this afternoon as it’s a lovely sunny day and I haven’t been for my morning swim today cos I’ve been a bit under the weather, I’m missing being in the water and I could do with reading a few chapters of my book!

@chickenfordinner, @frozendaisy , @FayKnights , really well, thanks for asking! Dd went off to do some taster sessions with the other prospective students & commented several times that the time flew & she liked the professors. We wandered aimlessly for the rest of the day but saw loads & are trying to convince dd2 to come for a day with us over the Easter break. We did get to Coal Drops @FayKnights but later on in the day & most of the donuts had sold 😥...we'll just have to go back so there's a bigger selection & we definitely get one dd2 will eat!

@Zippedydodah jacket spuds are a shout! I'll have a look see if we have any big-ish spuds 😋

Glad it went well!
if you head down at Easter, have a look at the German Gymnasium for lunch, it’s beautiful!
Apparently very instagrammable too, if your girls are into that sort of thing!

zingally · 16/03/2025 11:29

Had a nice lie-in and then washed my hair. I normally do my hair wash in the evening, but doing it in the morning on a Sunday feels like a nice start to the day, and frees up my evening a bit more.
I've just been renewing my car tax - a rather horrible £190, which for a 3-door Corsa feels like a lot. Oh well.
Next plan is to print off a few bits I need for my private tutoring, and for my upcoming holiday. Then run the hoover round, which I meant to do yesterday, and then clean the kitchen and mop the floor.

Tea tonight will be a family favourite of bacon, egg and chips!

Now lets start a power hour and try and get these chores done!

GoldMoon · 16/03/2025 11:30

Having a bit of a spring clean ( half hardenly ) empty food cupboards , come on here , wipe shelves , sort out stuff to chuck , come on here , check dates before putting back , here I am again !

GoldMoon · 16/03/2025 11:32

Should read half heartened !

mondaytosunday · 16/03/2025 11:34

Just tucking in to brunch: egg, sausage on brioche bun with handful of cherry tomatoes and of course tea! Will be slow day today. Dishwasher broken so a few dishes to get washed, need to get some laundry on, but will spend most of the day crocheting. I have two kids, one at uni I’m sure just getting up before they end brunch service (catered) to fuel her studying, son (lives away) is working today, sixth day in a row.

BeaAndBen · 16/03/2025 11:38

I love Coal Drops Yard, @lucysmam ! I was there last weekend. I can happily while away ages watching little children and dogs playing in the fountains.

DH digging over the compost heap while I read my new book was too guilt-inducing even for a lazy soul like me, so I’ve been out pruning back the damned brambles and cutting down the cornus.

Peanut91 · 16/03/2025 11:42

Having a really chilly day. Been catching up with housework this morning whilst the kids play, will take the dog out for a walk after lunch and the my ILs are coming over for coffee and cake later

Kim82 · 16/03/2025 11:57

Good morning everybody (just about).

We’ve had a lazy morning today and we’re all still lazing about in our pjs. I’m struggling today though as dd20 finished packing up her belongings and officially moved out (with her cat) at 10.30am today. She’s moved 2 hours away to live with friends. Both me and dd10 have been holding back the tears since she left and I’ve ordered a McDonald’s to try and cheer us up.

The rest of the day will be spent trying to keep ourselves occupied (and not looking at dd20’s empty bedroom…) then dd17 is off out for tea with her friends and me, dh and dd10 are having enchiladas before homework, showers and a bit of tv before bed.

That’s now 2 of my dc who have moved out (ds23 moved out a good few years ago but does only live 5 mins down the road thankfully!), dd17 goes away to Uni in September and then it’ll just be dd10 living at home. I want them all to be tiny again, I am not okay today. 😢😢

Whattheduck · 16/03/2025 12:02

Really lazy day here I’m still in my pyjamas although I have cleaned the kitchen and put a beef stew in the slow cooker just going to make a coffee and listen to a podcast then have a shower and get dressed
Dh is still in bed as worked until the early hours he’s working this afternoon at his studio
Dd is home from uni for the weekend as she still works here she’s just left for her shift then she’s staying at her boyfriend’s before driving back in the morning
Have some bits to put on Vinted later
No plans for tonight just watch tv and try and finish the book I’m currently reading
Have a lovely Sunday everyone

InglouriousBasterd · 16/03/2025 12:09

Afternoon all, been awake for ages but having a lovely lazy morning with coffee and the radio. Need to go into town with DD to pick up DofE expedition stuff in a bit, then sort dinner (gammon, sweet potato mash and roast veg) and hopefully have a quiet afternoon too!

Lampzade · 16/03/2025 12:16

Have already been to the gym ( two hours)
I have been on the phone with my mum for an hour
Will batch cook some stews
Watch a bit of tv

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/03/2025 13:59

I've given up on my sewing in disgust, having messed up sewing the gathered skirt to the bodice a grand total of three times. I hate unpicking so much and just can't face trying again today.

Had a nice walk through and found a farmers' market, so bought vegetable samosas and some bottles of very delicious artisan chilli sauce.

GiddyRobin · 16/03/2025 15:50

Happy Sunday, everyone.

It's been a lovely slow day here as yesterday we had a long (and fun!) day out, so didn't get back until late.

Had coffee in bed and relaxed with DH until the DC woke, then we went down for breakfast. We picked up duck eggs yesterday so had lovely dippy eggs and soldiers with homemade toasted bread. Weather was cold but bright so we bundled up and ate outside. After a bit of pottering around we got dressed then went down to the horses, took the dogs for a big long walk too. It's so nice seeing everywhere becoming all spring like - the DC get so excited when they see new flowers coming up. Loads of blossom coming in on the trees, too.

We had a snacky lunch as we were still pretty full from breakfast, DH made hummus and we just put it all on the table and had what we fancied. The DC have a new jigsaw so we all did that together for a few hours, now they're playing/reading, DH is tuning his instruments and I'm reading my book/scrolling on MN.

Going to take the dogs for another walk in an hour or so, then we'll cook dinner. Thinking a nice simple one tonight - salmon with a Mediterranean traybake sort of thing. Might play a few rounds of 221B Baker Street (boardgame) with DH later on!

lucysmam · 16/03/2025 18:33

@GiddyRobin my two run away when I suggest a game or two of 221B Baker St 🙄

Awwww, they're missing out! It's so much fun, I bloody love that game. Bribe them with treats! I bet they'll love it once they start! DH bought a deerstalker a few years ago and we fight over who gets to wear it when we play. 🤣

Goldmoon you meant “ halfheartedly” 🙂
