I have some pressure from
Y6 dd to buy some "skincare"
I am not keen to do so as no evidence of spots etc
She has mentioned bubble as a brand

My daughter has some dry skin (she used to have eczema) and some spots so I have bought her a suitable moisturiser and cleanser but we have also talked about the harm inappropriate skin care can do.

I do let her get some nice body sprays /lip balms as that seems a reasonable compromise

The only time I had awful skin was when I caved to the marketing and tried some skincare so I am pretty wary of it (but I do have sensitive skin)

Skincare is hugely marketed to tweens now unfortunately.

Bioma is a decent, affordable brand in Boots that is designed for sensitive skin so less harsh etc. Dd uses the cleanser and moisturiser. She’d previously tried Simple but her skin reacted.

Op Google it it's a massive movement it's what they are into cream, serums fridges instead of becoming trans

Yes I am keeping DD away from all the fashionable brands for skincare, I'm really uncomfortable about it. Thankfully DD accepts she has sensitive skin (she can't use most bath products etc either) so she hasn't minded much. She doesn't watch much TV etc herself as too busy with her hobby, but she hears a lot about it from friends at school

But equally if they do have spots /dry skin they should be able to take sensible steps to help themselves.

It's all about influencers making money. Turn off tiktok etc. No yr 6 needs expensive skincare marketed by YouTubers

Mine doesn't have tiktok, but some of the girls at school do so she hears about it anyway

I would resist the pressure, there's enough of her life to feel like she has to spend money and time on unnecessary products, delay it as long as possible.

(I just wash my face with a flannel and use Simple moisturiser so I think it can probably be put off for ever!)

Cleanser and a moisturiser? Bubble is nice and byoma. And a body spray/lip balm/hand cream
That’s a nice set of stuff but nothing harsh or age inappropriate
