What's everyone's favourite UK/Ireland place to visit?

I'm a Londonder but outside of London I love Edinburgh. I love the city and think it's really beautiful.

North Yorkshire, the moors, Whitby, Staithes. North Norfolk, Brancaster, Blakeney, Cley Next the Sea, Wells Next the Sea. The New Forest, Lyndhurst, Lymington. Burnham on Crouch, a quiet off the beaten track town, in Essex.

So, a holiday in the UK. Like people have taken for years.

Ireland is not in the UK. It’s in the British isles but Britain is a foreign country to me (in Ireland). Going to Britain is as much of a foreign holiday as anywhere else in the world.

A staycation is staying in your house and having lots of days out and meals and generally chilling for a week.

Staying anywhere else is a holiday.

That’s what I consider a staycation.

I love going all over the UK on my holidays! Northumberland is lovely and that’s where I’m going in May but I’ve loved everywhere from Lands End to Cumbria, to Wales. I’ll make it to Scotland someday soon.

I also!meant to include the previous quote that mentioned the British isles.

My favourite British holiday destination is North Wales. Loads to do whether you like castles, scenic train journeys, industrial heritage, beaches or outdoir pursuits. Also very fond of Perth and Kinross in Scotland and Northumberland in England.

Staycation is a horrible portmanteau and makes no sense in British terms because we don't nirmally use the word vacation. At least the Americans have retained its original meaning, so e g. no Texan is talking about having a staycation when they go to New York.
