Blue lips- what could it be?

I’ll start by saying I’m waiting for a call back with the GP but I’m sitting worrying so thought I’d ask for experiences.

My 3yo’s lips have started going a sort of blue every now and then for about 10 mins. It’s not always when she’s cold- sometimes she’s outside in the cold and fine. I’ve only noticed it over the last few days when she’s had a bit of a bug (sickness and diarrhoea) but now she’s recovered her lips went blue today for 10 mins. She’s absolutely fine otherwise and they are now back to normal. She did have a fairly pale poo yesterday.

any idea what this could be?

It could be something serious like low oxygen. It could be that your dc is like dd1 and when she is very cold or sometimes whenshe has been ill and is very tired, her lips go blue.

You have absolutely done the right thing contacting your gp and hopefully everything is fine.

It might not be this, but it could be cyanosis.

It might not be this, but it could be cyanosis.

I think cyanosis is the name of the symptom (ie blue lips) but it’s the underlying cause that’s the worry here

It can be caused by trapped wind

GP is the right call. If DC is otherwise well then not an emergency and GP will refer for any potential tests or diagnosis.
