Increasing work hours

I currently have a job I like working 3 days a week (2 WFH and 1 day a week in a town some way away -3 to 4 hours round trip and 80 pounds per day). I was approached to apply for a new job, by someone I know and have liked working for in the past. This would be 4 days a week and given the nature of the job would require at least 3 days in the office per week, at least probably for the first year). So at least an extra 6 hours of travel per week and an extra day work.
I also have a 3 year old and would require putting him in nursery a fourth day per week. I absolutely love working and being a mum. I want a good work life balance. This new job is a really good opportunity and the company is more stable than my current (there were some sudden layoffs a few months back, although I think I'm ok for now, I could see how things could change rapidly). I haven't had a full formal offer yet, but I would expect it to cover all the extra costs of nursery and transport plus more. However we are comfortable without a pay rise, and I'm very lucky we could just about get by if only one of us worked. But this job is an exciting opportunity.... So I feel torn. Plus I do sometimes a little stressed only doing 3 days and others picking up my stuff when I'm not there - so although I like my job I don't quite get the job satisfaction I got full time (and probably because my focus is more now on my DS). Also I had him later in life and really want to make the most of my time with him.

I'm particularly interested to hear from someone who has experienced anything similar in the past and how they look back on their choices now? Also just generally what you do in this position.
