Am I right in thinking people can go on holiday abroad without a passport? To certain places. Or did I imagine it 🤔 if I did not then what ID is needed. I don't have a driving licence.

I should really do it regardless. I always have theses thoughts and then think I got to sort passports etc etc. Then I don't bother. At least if i have passports they are there so wont to to worry only thing that's a pain is dd is 15 in July so will only get a year ish out of it and then have to get another one for her .

she will stiill be able to travel on the child passport until it runs out. DS1 is 18 and we travelled to Italy at half term on his passport he got when he was 15

I think if you're from the EU and have a photo ID card you can travel between those countries using that as ID? I'm not sure though.

True, but only Schengen agreement countries, so Irish people need a passport.
Photo id will be accepted by some airlines to travel between Ireland & UK, Ryanair only accept passport tho

Yes. Since brexit obviously this is only the EU and not into the uk.
I have Spanish nationality and could travel in the EU on my photo ID card but would need my Spanish passport to entero the uk since brexit.

I renewed my passport online last week. New passport arrived 6 days after application (including 2 weekend days). They're really quick at the moment.

If your dc is in year 10 it really isn’t a good idea to take them out of school, they will have there first mock GCSE’s in June usually and missing school isn’t great anyway.

look at maybe Wales in the school holidays, somewhere like Tenby is nice, no passport needed

The price of passports are going up in April so would imagine there is going to be a rush of everyone trying to get their renewal before the price goes up
I did mine 2 weeks ago, applied online on Sunday, sent new passport back on Monday, new passport arrived Thursday

That’s really useful to know, thanks @TantrumsAndBalloons.
