I think my mattress doesn't agree with me

Is this a thing? My body normally hurts, and I have a very tense neck and shoulders. When I get up in the morning all my joints hurt and I have to stretch.

For various reasons I am sleeping in my daughter's bottom bunk the last week or so, and all of these issues have completely disappeared.

I've spent a fortune on chiropractor and massages over the years, and the mattress itself wasn't cheap. Could it be wrong for me, if so how? I can't really understand the idea of this

Yes it's definitely a thing! The wrong mattress can make you feel ghastly in the morning. Also, the wrong pillow.

What sort of mattress and pillow do you have now?

Itisbetter · 12/03/2025 06:28

I think the pillow has more of an impact, but mornings stiffness can be arthritis.

Can make a huge difference. I changed mattress by accident at one point and could suddenly sleep through the night without pain - five years on, it's still working.

Went from an expensive full size adult mattress to a quite skimpy and cheap one too!

Is your mattress too hard? It is common to think that harder ones are better if you have back/neck problems.
I’ve recently bought a new one that is medium support (an Emma one) but currently have a doubled over duvet on top of it and will probably get a thick, like 2.5cm mattress topper.

I went to a Dreams bed shop and had an assessment where you lie on a bed and it measures your body.
