Since becoming single I've developed the slobby habit

Of sleeping wearing a tracksuit every night.

Just that. Just realised. We split at the end of November. Didn't live together. Even when she wasn't here I'd have nice, pretty pjs on if it were cold or a skimpy nightdress if it wasn't.

I've somehow fallen into this slobby habit.
Cosy, of course but now I've realised if I get with anyone else it is a habit I'm not sure I'd be willing to break.

Is this something that just happens? 🤣

I've even (shock horror) walked the dog in the morning dressed by just throwing a coat on over said same tracksuit I've slept in(I do brush my teeth etc first).

Anyone else become a tramp after a break-up?

So if someone sleeps in something warm, they're a tramp?

That's the beauty of being single no one can see you or judge you!
Sure your habit will change when you meet someone new - enjoy it !

Of course not! It just makes me feel like I've become tramp-Y if that makes sense. I used to have pretty nightwear every night. Now I've just become an old crone (I'm talking about me personally feeling that way, I'd never ever judge anyone else. It's just a big change and I hadn't even acknowledged it!

Thank you
Well maybe
Or maybe they'll have to accept my tracksuit era is here for the foreseeable (until it gets warmer, anyway)!

I'm still married and generally wear a tracksuit at home, then again so does DH. They are so comfortable and I really got into them during lockdown after borrowing a pair or two of hubby's.

We do dress up when leaving the house.

I do still dress up (overdressed often) when leaving the house. Apart from now and again when I think 'sod it' and walk the dog/nip to the shop in my tracksuits.

That is a new one for me though!

Isn’t a tracksuit rather uncomfortable to sleep in? Quite apart from being very hot, are you wearing it with underwear? I wouldn’t have said the seams were designed for comfort when lying down.

Not at all!I am always freezing in bed so it keeps me warm. I don't wear underwear with them, same as pjamas. Haven't noted any seams going up my chuff but I may readdress things if that did happen. 😂

God I’d be roasting in a tracksuit. But if you’re comfy carry on, each to their own.

BarneyRonson · 12/03/2025 10:50

I’d say it’s a good sign that you’ve noticed what you’re doing! It sounds as though your post break up fug is lifting and you’re asking yourself if you actually like what you’re doing. Good call. If you decide you love being swaddled in sleep, treat yourself to some pretty fleecy things maybe. Sometimes I sleep in a Dunelm teddy top, when it’s very cold and I feel in need.

I maybe shouldn't mention that I have the electric blanket on too...
I cannot wait for warmer weather.

I dint own a track suit but am now considering it as I am always freezing in bed too. I use a hot water bottle pretty much all year round.

I am going to do one of my favourite slobby things tomorrow, cook and eat half a chicken and fresh stick with a bit of salad. There will be no use of cutlery whatsoever.

To each their own, but I firmly believe that caring for one’s well-being begins with taking care of one’s appearance, as counterintuitive as that may sound.
Answering your question—no, it’s not just something that happens. It may have happened to you, but people break up all the time, and they don’t suddenly start wearing unusual clothes to sleep.

rubberduck68 · 12/03/2025 13:21

Clothes? You do you! If it's making you feel happy, do it. FYI I have often left the house in PJ bottoms tucked into Uggs and a big coat (and meet neighbours doing the same!) to walk my dog. If you starting dating again, they should not dictate what you wear in bed or out of it.

I do tend to agree with this, probably why it felt a bit strange once I realised.

Perhaps a comfort thing. I stress that I do generally take good care of my appearance, I go to the gym and run and wear nice clothes to go out, even if It's just to the local pub. It's really just this-and I did go and buy dog food from the local shop in tracksuit pants and a coat recently, but I was in and out-still had make up on and hair done, I'd not say that was worth donning another set of clothes for Smile
