HPV vaccination

My child is due the HPV vaccine. This might be a stupid question but I read that it is effective for 6 years and some websites say around 10. It also mentions that it doesnt eliminate certain cancers, it reduces the risk.

So if a child has it at 12, they are only protected until around 18-20? So what happens after that when they are more sexually active? Has anyone not given it to their child and why?

You don’t need Gardasil boosters as you would for eg tetanus. If you’re young and healthy, it’s one dose once.

It's almost 100% effective against gential warts and has decreased cervical cancer in women in their 20s - vaccinated at age 12 to 13 - by 90%, with 97% efficency protection against cervical cancers and cell changes that could lead to cervical cancer. Effective for 10+ years.

In 2024, in Scotland, public health collaborative study with universities showed no cervical cancer in fully vaccinated women from the start of the programme in 2008.

Why wouldn't you offer your daughter this protection?
