Anyone know anything about consumer law?

I bought a dress in the sale from a fairly well known online retailer.

It was far too short so contacted them about returning it.

They told me that it was an archive sale item which are not eligible for either a refund or an exchange and this was clearly stated on the website.

I must have missed it, it does indeed say that (small print though).

My question is - is there a consumer law that protects the buyer in this situation? I thought anything bought online can be returned because you can’t see the actual item?

Do the distance selling regulations apply? 14 day cooling off period iirc.

Items bought online can be returned. You need to inform them within 14 days and then have another 14 days to return the item. If it a UK based store then they need to abide by these rules.
