Feeling in the pit of my stomach

Anyone else experience this or know what it is?

I sometimes get this awful feeling for days at a time in the pit of my stomach - the best way I can describe it is a feeling of dread, foreboding, anxiousness, like I know something terrible has happened but I don’t know what. It is so unsettling.

it seems to be around the time I ovulate so perhaps hormone linked.

I just want the feeling to go away. It’s not just a quick pang of fear - it hangs around for days.

Are you worried about anything in particular? If it's going on for days you need specialist help. Not as alarming as it sounds, if you like your GP check there first. I do know what you mean though, sometimes I get an uneasy feeling, but it tends to pass quickly.

I know this feeling well. Speak to your GP. They can give you medication to help. Doesn’t need to be anti depressants as it’s only a few days of the month could be propranolol which are taken as required. Hope you get something to shift it cause it really is a horrible feeling

Weirdly, the last time I had this (only for one day) I googled it and it said a sense of impending doom can be indicative of some heart problems and internal issues like large ovarian cysts.

Not to panic you at an anxious time, but just sharing as might tally with any other symptoms you have and prompt a different line of questioning.

@CalicoPusscat Thank you for your comment. I’m not consciously worried about anything in particular - I have 2 small kids so normal parental worries I guess. I am quite sensitive. I remember feeling like this after my eldest birth so wondering if it’s hormonal.

@MammaGx thank you for your comment. I’m going to speak to my gp. I do have thyroid issues so wondering if my levels are off or maybe a deficiency or hormonal.

@steppingin thank you for your comment. I will mention this when I speak to my gp. It does seem to be hanging around longer than previous episodes of dread so worth looking into I guess.

This is a familiar thing in peri/menopause - bodily anxiety churning away. Most likely hormonal.

@AtrociousCircumstance Thank you for your comment. I am 37 so quite possibly peri. It does feel like dip in hormones or something.
