Do people Really pay for people to Sort their cupboards?

I have been seeing posts on Facebook where people have paid for someone to come and tidy their cupboards.
Is this really a thing. I just can’t understand this it would literally take you a hour or two.
Also what is the point if you just mess it up again? If you ( or family) are the sort to just chuck everything in it will literally last a day.
someone has posted a picture on Facebook of their cutlery draw being arranged so the cutlery is on its side in rows. I mean why would you pay for this? Why would you post before and after pictures of your cupboards.i just don’t understand!

It starts at £40 an hour, minimum of 4 hours. More at a weekend.

I'm sure it's odd to many people but it's a service that is worth it to me.

It's also not about binning things. It's about bring structure and order to an area of my life that I neglect/don't prioritise. Seeing the disorganisation grow makes me unhappy and it's not something that I'm easily able to say 'right, let's get this sorted' and do it myself.

It makes me feel good and I can afford it, so it's something I'm happy to do.

If you're good at sorting things out and binning clutter then obviously it's not something you'd need. But not everyone is good at those things - I'm terrible at them.
It's no different to hiring occasional help in other ways. A PT to maximise your workout, a landscaper to shape the garden that works best for you, a financial advisor to make sure you're making the most of your money. All things people could manage without but benefit hugely from someone else's experience.

The tv show Sort your Life out will blow your mind!

If I was loaded I would merrily pay for my larder to look like Stacey Solomon and Dilly went bonkers with a labelling machine for a day

I just wait for my MIL to come and stay and she does it for me :)

Some people would hate that, I know, but I am happy with it. She also does wonders in the garden. She is a lovely person and it's never with any judgement, if it was I'd feel differently.

I would pay for this. I’m not very good at organising stuff. I have a messy, creative brain and I just don’t excel at putting systems in place. But if everything had a place I would stick to it.

I saw a local ad the other day for someone to come and pick up the dog shit in your garden.

Mind blown.

WhatWouldChristineCagneyDo · 09/03/2025 21:29

Yes, very much so.

I used to do it for a living, though I specialised in wardrobe organisation. People are overwhelmed with 'stuff' and will pay for someone dispassionate to see the wood for the trees.

I'm thinking of taking it up again.

MooFroo · 09/03/2025 21:45

I would pay for it - did 4 kitchen cupboards today and lost the will to live

lurchermummy · 09/03/2025 21:47

I am one and yes they do. Especially before and after moving house, older people, people with disabilities, people with small children, people who are pushed for time, people who are overwhelmed and just want some help...yes we charge £35 an hour but that includes travel, taking stuff to charity shop etc..

NotTheDebtDoctorWithTheHungryScalpel · 09/03/2025 21:51

I have ADHD and a physical disability, I can sort things out as far as dragging it all out, then get overwhelmed and I just can't do any more.

I have a VERY organised dp who comes over and sorts things out when they get to the point they are pissing me off, but I would absolutely pay for the service if I didn't have him.

Part of what I do is try and offset my costs by selling items the client no longer needs or wants. This works well as the client can see money coming back last week I did a whole week of a 4 bed that had never been made into a home. It was extremely satisfying one lovely man who now has an ordered and beautiful home to be proud of. Some people have no idea of style organisation or structure

UnhappyAndYouKnowIt · 09/03/2025 21:51

My 17 year old is amazing at this. She has a much better eye for organising than me.
