Designer bags - storage

I’m moving soon, everything will be going into storage for about 12 months

I have some expensive designer bags and I won’t be able to take them with me where I’m going, how do I keep them safe in storage for that period of time? It’s not temperature controlled so will get very cold in winter and likely very hot during summer if we have a heat wave or something so temperature is going to fluctuate. I don’t want to find they have been damaged by damp or mould or anything else when I come back to them in 12 months. I can’t put them anywhere else as they will need to be in the storage unit to be covered on my insurance.

Any recommendations?

I have just got a load of my good stuff, bags and silk scarves, from my storage. It isn't temp controlled, but it is properly ventilated and there is rodent and insect pest control. I put everything in there in 2020 and it is all fine. I checked all my paintings and suchlike and they are all fine too. I don't think the temperature matters as much as ventilation and pest control tbh. It is a small room in a warehouse unit run by the removals company that stored all my furniture in another of their warehouses.

I got an enormous metal chest when I needed to do similar. Can’t remember where it was from as it’s so long ago.

Also, I hoarded lots of those little silica packets and put a few into each bag/box/the whole thing. A blanket for cold protection lining. Everything was just fine.

Yes, this is going to be a proper storage unit in a warehouse similar to how you’ve described. Good to know that all of your things were okay. Thanks.

That’s good to know. Thank you.
Yes, I’m going to get those silica sachets too

Make sure you stuff them so they keep their shape!

I would give them a good dousing in leather cream before wrapping them up so that they don't dry out while in storage

Hmm, I’ve been advised by the sales assistance not to put anything at all on them so I’m not sure I would want to do that. I’ve pretty much just left them alone completely unprotected as per sales assistant advice.
