Anyone have the Bugaboo Fox - is it huge?

Hello

We’re looking at the Bugaboo Fox which I love and seems so smooth and nice to manoeuvre, but also seems massive. We’re in a flat in London at the moment (so not loads of space), don’t have a car. I’m 5 foot 3 and husband isn’t super tall. Planning to move to a commuter town as soon as we can buy a house. Unlikely to be taking it on tubes etc. But it seems even big for going into coffee shops and so on.

Anyone have it, how do you find it?

Thanks!

If you aren't ground floor no way would I get it.

We are, at least. No steps to negotiate.

It’s a lovely pram but it’s not a London pram. Get a baby zen yo-yo - everyone has them around me. So much smaller and more practical for getting around shops, on and off the bus etc. The fox doesn’t really fold properly so takes up so much space. The baby zen folds completely, useful on the train, in the house, in the nursery buggypark, at playgroup buggypark, in the car etc….

Forgot to do we do do a lot of walks especially in countryside and uneven terrain which is what this pram looked so good for

For walks in the country side a sling is wwwwwaaaaaaaaayyyyy better. Trust me! Pushchairs get so muddy, don’t fit through gates/ over stiles. Also, you need a runner pram/ really massive wheels for proper off-roading. The fox isnt it, it gets stuck on every tree root.

Namechanger385u4p · 08/03/2025 20:45

I had a cameleon which is a similar size to the fox when i lived in z2. It was great as you often walk a long way with lots of shopping etc, no probs getting it on the bus. Useful to carry all your junk when you go on day long expeditions.

I still use it to transport injured dc many years later

But im not a small pram person.

steelingmyself · 08/03/2025 20:46

I have one and I've got on really well with it BUT I live in the highlands and do lots of walking. It IS big for taking round the shops / busy places.

Thank you, yeah for proper walks with stiles etc we’d have a sling (not that I’ve looked these up yet!) - was thinking more muddy or uneven paths. For some prams with less robust/smaller wheels I’ve heard they get caught up in mud and bits so quickly.

I have a Vista - so another big pram - in London and I love it. I don't get why everyone has a YoYo.

I regularly take mine on the bus and tube with no issues and - crucially - I can fit a massive amount of shopping underneath. I think it seems far more suited to city living with lots of walking than a dinky little thing that just travels to a car park and back.

QueenOfWeeds · 08/03/2025 20:55

My friend has one and it takes up a lot of room in their hallway - do you have somewhere to store it where you won’t be squeezing past it? I think the different models might also be slightly different sizes? I saw a mum with one at the health visitor centre and it looked even bigger than my friend’s, but was still a fox.

I agree with a bigger pram than a yoyo for shopping etc - we had an Uppababy Cruz and a Yoyo when we lived in London and I used the Cruz almost everywhere, except when I was just getting a bus to a baby group and didn’t need much.

On this I agree! It's quite easy to fold away though so we keep ours folded down in the car boot when it's not being used!

80smonster · 08/03/2025 21:06

Do you use London buses? If so I think the Fox will be a pain, the Bee is much better suited to London (and I found it fine off road and in deep mud).

Straightomyhead · 08/03/2025 21:07

I bought a Bugaboo Fox (one) second hand and love it. Admittedly s it's a one and it's Fox 5 on sale now it's slightly different

It is big but I have found it works fine in most coffee shops, shops and tight spaces. It's great for longer walks and loads of room in the under basket.

I thought I would be a sling person but I just couldn't get on with it. I used a sling a few times on dog walks but much preferred the pram.

Other thing to mention, is that it is good as it lies flat even with the seat, bit it's big when folded.

Pregnancy brain I completely forgot I made this thread………

We’ve also looked at the vista, a friend has one and going to go and trial it around the block a few times! I also love how much space there is in the basket, seems more than bugaboo fox.

Yes it can go in the hallway but it’s annoying that the bassinet doesn’t collapse like others so not ideal. And will have to squeeze past! Will think about.

Quite a few people seem to have a cheaper small pram (secondhand yoyos mainly) for travel or zipping on buses which is maybe something to consider post-6 months

I'm in London with no car and got a fox

I was very jealous of all the mums with yoyos!

It is lovely and smooth on pavements, but too big for cafés/bus/tube, and there are better all terrain buggies for off roading. If I had my time again (and storage space) I'd get two. A mini one one day to day (doesn't have to be yo-yo but something similar) and a big one for off road

toastofthetown · 18/03/2025 08:52

It's huge, but any pram which will be able to handle regular off roading comfortably and without damaging the pram has to be bigger and heavier than a travel pushchair so that it has the wheel size, suspension and support to handle that. The Fox 5 is probably the most terrain capable pram of its size on the market. Personally it was too big for me and my needs, and if you live the kind of lifestyle where a Yoyo covers you then you'll probably end up frustrated by the size and weight of it and give up on it after a year, but if you need what it offers (large and comfortable on most surfaces, don't tend to use a car and need a larger pushchair as the base of operations for the day) then you'll love and it it will probably last for years.

NewName2025 · 18/03/2025 08:56

I also have an uppababy vista in z3 London. I do love mine and it's on its second child now. But we decided to also buy a Minu once DD1 was toddler age so if we were going up to central / on the tube, we had a smaller nippier buggy. There are v3 of both the minu and vista now so you can get some really good deals on the v2s. We mostly manage absolutely fine day to day with the vista though and as we don't have a car, the basket is brilliant for the shops.

Just a word of warning though, it's horrible as a double. So heavy and cumbersome. If you decide to have more DC, Out n About now offer a vista trade in scheme where you can get money off their side by side doubles if you trade in a vista.

Are you near South London? There's a really good independent baby shop in Croydon called Baby Nest and they have loads of different buggies on the shop floor to try.

Thanks this is helpful. I reckon we will get a yoyo or similar size in due course for those reasons to be honest

I’m not in London but use my Fox 5 in my city. It felt big to begin with but I soon got used to it. No desire to switch to a smaller city stroller two years in. I like the way my children look comfortable in the Fox and the big shopping basket for me.

QueenOfWeeds · 18/03/2025 12:26

One thing to bear in mind is that if you have a smaller travel stroller, you obviously have less storage and that’s fine (ish) in summer or winter but I got so fed up during the in between seasons phases when I wanted to shove coats, hats, jumpers etc into the pram and ended up having a tote bag swinging from the handles as well as a bag with weaning bits in for DD, and a change mat etc. I much preferred being able to sling everything in the basket of the uppababy.
