My manager, who made a false allegation against me last year which was disproved, did not shortlist me for a position I had been working towards. Did not tell me why and now I’ve found out someone else got it. I feel utterly dejected as i wanted that so badly … what should I do next please?

I would make a sideways move away from that manager

First response nailed it.
You need to not be managed by this person. I'm surprised that it was allowed to continue after the false allegation. Can you speak to HR about being moved? Or them being moved?

Happened to me - even after a sideways move I felt marked, didn't get a role I was fully qualified for. I think I've been marked as dufficult by my boss's peers in the senior management team, and by Chief Excutive, as he decided to take no action against her. HR were sympathetic but I was moved. I'm public sector.

So my advice is, get a new job in a different organisation. It's incredibly unfair, but put your peace of mind first, even when you're in the right, as the junior person, you've caused a problem.

So sorry you're going through this, I was demotivated for months, and planning early retirement as soon as I can afford it, I'm just done.

I’m also public sector and I think your assessment of the situation is right … even though my boss got moved now somehow I’m the problem. I’m about five years off early retirement so it’s hard to move but hard to stay as well

The boss has been moved but not before they’d finished destroying my progression!

Urgh that's an awful situation. Especially when you're close to being able to retire soon.
