Contraception advice? X

Hi everyone, sorry if this is a boring thread just looking for some advice🤔 I have been taking my combined pill (ridgeividon) back to back for god knows how long. 6/7 months with no breakthrough bleeding/ other issues. I decided to do this as I had read that continuous use of the pill isn’t harmful and I suffered with very painful periods. I feel like my body needs a break so I am planning on finishing a pack and having a 4 day break. I guess the question is, if I have been taking the pill continuously and I suddenly decide to take a break, will my body think I have missed pills as it’s not used to the break? Just wondering if I finish another pack and have a break will I still be protected or will my body think I have just missed pills? TIA x

You’ll still be covered against pregnancy. A 4 day break won’t trigger ovulation.

You don’t have to have a break if you don’t want to. You could keep taking it until you start spotting or bleeding.

If you do take a break take no more than 7 days.

Thankyou for your reply !

Currently in two minds about taking a break, I just can’t remember the last time I had my period and would like the reassurance of knowing Im not pregnant as I’m starting to get slightly paranoid!
Although I am aware the bleed isn’t a “period” just a withdrawal bleed from stopping the hormones.

I took the combined pill. Personally I found that when I back to backed my next period was worse than usual in terms of level of cramping and volume. Personal experience, def won't happen to everyone. My body just always felt like it needed the break so I always had the 7 day break after 21 pills. I had to stop taking it as my blood pressure just kept creeping up the longer I was taking it.

Tried several other things but ultimately came to the conclusion hormonal contraception just didn't work for my body. You just need to find what works for yours.

I am slightly apprehensive as I have imagined what the first period would be like after not having one for months (cramps, nausea, ect)

I hope you have found a method that works for you x
