YouTube Auditors

Has anyone heard of these people?

Basically, they go out with their GoPros, drones and cameras and record public services, public buildings and private businesses doing their work.

They always film from legal places like the street or car parks where there are no security gates and never break in anywhere, therefore not breaking the law.

They film everywhere from inside Job Centres, police station car parks (often filming inside the cars and drawing attention to themselves) and any private companies. They basically wander around the premises (usually with most of their face covered) filming, and invariably someone comes over to question why they’re filming their car/business. It very frequently ends in arguments, physical altercation and the police being called.

They put their drones up and zoom in on windows of offices where people are working, trying to see what’s on the computer screen or paperwork.

Some of their behaviour is very antagonistic IMO.

It’s came into the news in recent days because Luisa Zissman ended up with an auditor on her property who wanted to put their drone up and film her home. It ended in a bit of a scrap as she said she’d shoot it down.

There are loads of them on YouTube.

So are they PITA who should go get a real job, or are they doing the work of the people, keeping the police and other public services in check?

Yes, we've had a visit from one at work and it didn't go well for those who tried to deal with them.

I'd previously heard of them from a client and due to the nature of our work, I thought we'd be a likely target and I suggested to our managers that everyone does the online training from security services, it's a 5 minute video.

This was ignored and there was a huge fallout because we came across really badly in the 'audit'.

As for the auditors and their followers I won't apologise for calling them sad little men (because they will be almost all men) who should find something more worthwhile do with their lives. Plus the extreme end will be the potentially dangerous misogynistic and the like.

Ah, did your workplace make it on to YouTube?

I think they’re deliberately antagonistic in the hope that they’ll provoke a reaction for their online content.

One of them who seems quite prominent on YouTube was “targeted” by social services because of his “job” as an auditor. He filmed the social workers coming over and his flat is an absolute shithole. Kids living in squalor. I definitely think they could channel their energy into about 500 better things than winding people up and hoping they react.

Sorry I've never heard of this. What is the point of their actions, are they trying to be some sort of whistleblowers?

I think their claim is that they’re making sure our tax money is being used properly (hence filming in the Job Centre and at police stations) but I suspect it’s for content and clicks.

They go to the migrant hotels too as well as lots of Palestine/Israel protests. Lots of places where there’s a potential for drama.

I’ve seen footage of them at protests and I can see that they’d be useful if something kicked off and there’s footage of it to see what really happened. I didn’t know they did the other stuff or that some people tried to film people’s houses. What’s the public interest in filming Luisa Zissman’s home?

ThejoyofNC · 06/03/2025 13:04

They are complete and utter morons and desperate for an argument to post on the internet.

The man who went to Luisa's private property rang the intercom "just to let her know" that he was about to fly a drone over her property and that he wasn't asking permission. He then lied through his back teeth when the police turned up. Honestly he was absolutely infuriating.

Conanno · 06/03/2025 13:05

theyre always paranoid freedom of the land types who are deep down conspiracy holes.

JoyousEagle · 06/03/2025 13:06

They sound like arseholes tbh. They're judging whether tax payers' money is well spent by a shot through a window or a walk around an office where presumably everyone stops working anyway to see who the weirdo with a mask and camera is? Sounds really reliable.

Mrsbloggz · 06/03/2025 13:06

I've never heard of this before but it sounds like a form of vigilantism?

Yes. Then there were loads of disgusting comments about the personal appearance of my colleague who were filmed. Sad

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 06/03/2025 14:36

We get them commonly outside our police station.
We all just ignore them as much as we can.

I don't really know what they're trying to do, tbh, they could see much juicier things by looking into the windows of the nick, or standing near the smoking area, but they just film at the end of the road, so all they actually record is police cars going in and out, officers on their way to/from work on foot, and sometimes officers' cars too.

It can be unnerving, but most police officers are used to being observed so I don't suppose it's too bad.

That’s the aim.

“Oh hi, just to let you know, I’ll be sending a drone up over your property, I’ll be about 20 minutes”

That would rile anyone up. If they can make someone lose their temper, it’s all clicks on YouTube.

We get lots of people angrily going “I’M FILMING ALL OF THIS, YOU KNOW”. To which my reply is always calmly “not if you want to remain here, you aren’t - other patients have a right to privacy.” Being calm seems to really annoy them.

NC28 · 06/03/2025 16:14

Aw yeah I know of him. He’s Italian I think. He films in/around police stations and when they ask him what he’s doing or if there’s anything they can help with, he tells them to go get him a coffee. 😐
