Would you say anything?

NC for this

I live in a very small block of apartments. Someone has moved in very recently and has a dog. Doesn't bother me, I have a cat and the dog seems fine and is very quiet

Except pets aren't allowed under the lease, and I'm not sure if they know (the management company are shit)
I know as I've lived here 20 years and it's a risk I chose to take with a plan if they ever inspect!

Would you leave them to it or mention it? Like I said I like dogs, not fussed but wanted them to know in case the management company came over so they could put the dog somewhere...

I wouldn’t say anything, I imagine they do know and it could easily get misconstrued as you telling them they’re Doing something wrong

If pets aren't allowed then why do you have a cat? Am I missing something?

catsanddogsandpets · 06/03/2025 10:29

To add the reason I say they might not know is the rules list is huge and I have the original pack which is the only reason I know!

Stuff like windows must be cleaned once a month, no washing to be outside, noise restrictions from 11-7am, it's about 75 pages

They will know that the dog is not allowed. Surely it states it in the lease? I mean, how do you know that your cat is not allowed?

I'm aware I'm breaking the rules too! It's more that if I moved in and didn't know I would appreciate a heads up in case of inspection, or if I did know I would be reassured that neighbours wouldn't say anything

Personally I see why no dogs sometimes if you get one that's really barky but otherwise yes I think it's a ridiculous rule and I'm not fussed like I said

I don't know whether they got a copy. The management company are really really shit, as in they delayed a sale so much before the buyer pulled out

I bought as a new build so have all the stupid amount of paperwork

Regularly break a lot of the rules, my place isn't decorated in approved colours, I haven't decorated as often as it says, I haven't cleaned the inside of the windows every month, I've banged a rug outside, I've probably done something considered immoral Grin

It might not have been clear in my OP

I am aware I am breaking the rules and have a plan for any inspections
Would you tell them so they could do the same? It's not a discussion on if I should be doing it as well!
