How can I become less tired?

I'm 36. Work FT over 4 days in a stimulating and well paid career. 2 pre school children. Single parent but support from excellent, flexible child minder, friends and a decent cleaner who irons.

I eat healthily, exercise most days, take a multi vitamin, iron supplement (I'm anaemic) and vitamin D every day.

I never used to be this tired but I am absolutely exhausted. I go to bed at 9:30 quite often and up with kids at 6:30. One night a week kids are with their dad so I get to sleep a bit more the next morning.
I fall asleep on the train home sometimes. I feel like I could sleep for a year.

This can't be normal? Is it because I'm getting older? Can anyone advise anything to feel better?

Have you had your B12 levels checked?

I suspect an iron supplement isn't strong enough if you're anaemic either.

Young children are tiring.

I feel exactly the 9same all the time, I feel so tired no matter how long a sleep I have, I eat healthy balanced meals I work part time have 2 teenagers at home, who will help out if asked, I have had blood tests taken and the results returned Normal ( I thought it might be due to my thyroid as my hair is very fine now too), I have tried supplements but these do not make me feel any better I to was wondering if is due to age

Personally I swear by Floradix tablets. Iron and b12. I don't eat a great lot of meat by preference and witj tea drinking you lose iron.

I have tried going without it but always end up back on it. Even in my twenties.

I found vit b12 on top of my iron helped loads. And zinc, magnesium and evening primrose.

I was going to say exercise, but you do that already — I am older than you and have young children, and it doesn’t sound normal to me. I would definitely see your GP.

Anaemia - there is the answer. it makes you feel exhausted. Doctors should be able to get you the strong stuff - take with orange juice - drop tea and coffee which interfere with iron absorption

perhaps also cut one day of exercise or make sure it’s something like yoga - not stressing the body too much - take the load off your body
