Has anybody used Mojo mortgages

We're remortgaging and also making a big overpayment. It does look like just changing product and staying with my current provider makes most sense.

Over the weekend I filled in a form for Mojo mortgages (via Zoopla) and the conversation this morning was "interesting" to say the least.

They also start an application as a default. Anybody that has used them in the past know how easy it is to opt out?

Thanks!

What was interesting about the conversation?

Why did you approach them if it makes most sense to stay with your current provider?

Just to have a "sanity check" with someone. I was also hopeful that maybe they could get a different/ better deal.

Well he told me he had mouths to feed, so I should consider that when not using their services. He also recanted/contradicted himself when I told him, if just do it in my own.

Well that's blatantly very unprofessional and should be a strong enough signifier not to use them.

By and large, mortgages aren't complicated. And there aren't really any "good deals" out there. The deals offered are all much of a muchness really as the underlying base rate is set by the Bank of England and then the banks set their mortgage rates accordingly.

Companies like these Mojo mortgages have to make money somehow. But as your mortgage sounds straightforward, what's the point in paying for that?

I always just remortgage myself and for the past few years I have stayed with my provider as to change would have involved some degree of admin work, and the different in rate / deal was negligible.

If you think your current provider has a product that's suitable and you can't see
Much better on the market, I would stick with that.

I would go as far as to say that warrants and FCA complaint!

This is your sign to walk away and have nothing to do with them.

Well it gets worse! Got an email from them saying I consented for them to apply for me! I repeatedly said during the call I genuinely didn't want to proceed.

So I complained via the call centre (they were super apologetic) and said they'd cancel straight away.

10 mins after I hung up, this man called me again and said "he wanted to straighten some things out" but I needed to pass the security checks. I said I had nothing to discuss with him. (While he kept saying I needed to pass the security checks). I said I'll deal with his company via the call centre and hung up.

I called them again and said I really just wanted to block his number, as I had gone from uncomfortable/awkward to uneasy.

He also had the pizzazz to follow up via email. I've obviously haven't opened it and never will. Have asked the company to delete all of my personal information.

I will ask my DH to call them next week to make sure we're completely done with them .
