Going with my mum to watch it next week and would like to bring DD along. What do you think? I’m in two minds

No. It’s all about drinking, smoking and shagging your way through 1990s publishing and TV.

LegoAirlines · 02/03/2025 21:23

Yes. It's mildly smutty but nothing she won't already know.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 02/03/2025 21:24

Surely it wouldn't make sense unless you've seen the first three. And I wouldn't really wanting a 13 year old watching them.

Blondebrownorred · 02/03/2025 21:24

It's 15 rated so she won't get in if they check her age.

Gulbekian · 02/03/2025 21:25

No.

Figgygal · 02/03/2025 21:25

The new one is a 15 so unlikely she'd get in anyway

Sprig1 · 02/03/2025 21:25

No.

outofofficeagain · 02/03/2025 21:25

It's not for 13 year olds. It's mainly about grief and middle age. I don't think she'd enjoy it.

richardosmanstrousers · 02/03/2025 21:26

You can't take 13 year olds to see 15 rated films. There is a reason for that.

rainbowsparkle28 · 02/03/2025 21:27

It’s a 15 rating so you risk her not being able to get in anyway if they are checking. And the rating would make think no not appropriate certainly not if you also haven’t had a chance to watch yourself before to get a gauge for any difficult bits.

that doesn't sound very appealing to me that alone or 13 year-old!!

I think I'll just wait till it comes out on the telly

Simplepink · 02/03/2025 21:28

Oh for fucks sake! Obviously it’s absolutely fine for a 13 year old to watch.
dunno how old she’ll look and whether she would get into cinema but Jesus it’s not like you’re trying to smuggle her into A Clockwork Orange!

Scutterbug · 02/03/2025 21:28

Yes.

AndActuallyWhyYoureAtIt · 02/03/2025 22:09

She probably won't get in because of the age rating but ignoring that I'd let her watch it. I took my step daughter who is 15 and she enjoyed it. She needs to watch the first three films though so that she gets the story line.

LoudPlumDog · 02/03/2025 22:20

I saw it yesterday, brilliant. I haven’t seen the first three, but that didn’t matter as this was still a great story. There was mostly woman 40 plus there.

I wouldn’t take a 13 year old.

No idea why it's a 15. Yes I would OP but of she gets checked she won't be allowed in.

CharityShopMensGlasses · 02/03/2025 22:23

No
It's aimed at people who know the full story from the beginning, it's a great film but about motherhood, grief and sex...

Cheepcheepcheep · 02/03/2025 22:24

I’d let my 13 year old watch the first one, it’s silly and risqué but it was our usual sleepover film back in year 9 in 2003ish.

The new one - saw it yesterday. It’s parenting, grief, shagging in your 40s… I thought it was fabulous but I can’t imagine 13 year old me enjoying it. Not glamorous or aspirational enough 😅

Its really only a 15 due to spoken sex references and swearing, I wouldn’t worry about a 13yo in that respect but I don’t think she’d enjoy the content.

Todayisanewday75 · 04/03/2025 08:19

Thanks for all the replies. On reflection I won’t take her, not because I have an issue with her watching it but because she might not get in and she might find it boring.

Yes, but I doubt she'd enjoy it - it's aimed at middle aged mums, not teenage girls!
