Children drawing in walls...do you paint over each time?

What do you do? They don't do it a lot but my middle one is really creative and has had a go at the walls

I'm really surprised at this, OP. Unless there are special needs why would DC draw on walls?! Ours are 9 and 5, and this has just never occurred or even a conversation ensued

I agree.
Load of rubbish about the wall being a big blank, irresistible canvas and how 4 year olds are drawing on furniture. It's not normal or a rite of passage. It's unacceptable, wilful behaviour that needs nipping in the bud and shouldn't happen period, never mind once. If kids are old enough to have oens unsupervised, they are old enough to not draw on walls or furniture. Maybe they need tu be provided with more creative opportunities by parents.

Should have read, "I disagree".

You can get chalk paint and paint a bit of the wall with it...we did this when mine were little- then they can draw on that bit of wall all they want?!

@DeclutteringJane yeah it's my 3 year old. I've been busy with baby and she's found a pen.

I honestly sometimes love the drama on here. My eldest never drew on the walls my middle one and youngest have done. It's often been when I've been busy with something else and they've found a whiteboard marker. It's stopped now but I still need to paint over what they drew.

My 5yr old drew on the wall and blamed the mice that live in our house 😂
Made him wipe it off and said in a very loud voice that if the mice drew on the walls again then DS would be loosing a £1 out of his spends each time they draw on the wall. Not found any special mice drawings since

ClassicalQueen · 28/02/2025 20:13

My DS has only done it once, I cleaned it off with some washing up liquid and a sponge. He's never done it again.

Upstartled · 28/02/2025 20:14

Wd40 and a wet wipe, iirc

lovelydayIhave · 28/02/2025 20:14

I would just paint it with a washable paint- I think there's actually some paint especially made for children's drawings to be easier to wipe off.

Every time?!
Surely you don’t leave them unsupervised with pens after the first time?

heartbroken22 · 28/02/2025 21:24

@KilkennyCats yes they don't do it anymore but I've still got marks from last time that I'll be painting over.
