My mum is leaving hospital after 12 weeks. If I gave a gift for nurses, does anyone know what would or would not be appreciated? Thanks.

I’m sure biscuits and chocolates are always appreciated. Also Loccitane do lovely little hand creams, I think nurses do so much hand washing they often get quite dry. You can get packs of the smaller ones that come in nice packaging.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 28/02/2025 08:40

I hand written cards with thank you messages.

Putyourfeckingsockson · 28/02/2025 08:40

We definitely do want crisps and chocolate! Hth 💕

BleachedJumper · 28/02/2025 08:43

How much are you wanting to spend?

I know what’s been very appreciated in the past is things like a donation towards/buying an under counter fridge for the staff room.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 28/02/2025 08:44

Tea and coffee is always appreciated. We have to provide our own so this is a nice gift. Plus nice biscuits. Always a winner.

Blingismything · 28/02/2025 08:47

If cards/notes are given, mention any specific people by name as this can count towards their accreditation.

This is lovely, however, I work as part of a big hospital healthcare team in intensive care and I can tell you, we do want crisps and chocolate 🤣. Fruit is lovely but it lasts a single shift whereas biscuits and coffee can stretch out over a few shifts so everyone who cared for your mum gets to enjoy.

The M&S outrageously chocolatey biscuits are the undisputed elite and I reckon keep NHS morale afloat singlehandedly.

Teabags and instant coffee also appreciated!

Nannyfannybanny · 28/02/2025 08:50

Donations on my ward were never given to the staff, they were swallowed up,by beaurocrisy ,we loved cards, biscuits, baskets of fruit. A thank you went a long way.

RosesAndHellebores · 28/02/2025 09:01

Agree with good biscuits and tea/coffee. And a letter to the chief executive, praising the team, noting names of anyone who has gone above and beyond.

Chocolate, biscuits, fruit & tea and coffee always go down well. Buy some for day staff and separate for night staff. The night staff always use to moan that day staff ate all the chocolates!

caringcarer · 28/02/2025 09:44

I always left a large tin of shortbread or tin of chocolate biscuits for the staff room and my sister left a box of Lindor chocolates after Mum's treatment. It seemed to go down well.

This is so helpful, thank you.
