Gallbladder issues help!

Thisismeme · 27/02/2025 18:11

I have been having problems with gallbladder pain since December and have been admitted to hospital once. I have an operation slot for a months time. One scan showed gallstones and the second scan did not.
The pain has flared up since Monday and just will not settle down. It’s near constant regardless of what I do or what painkillers I take. I have no other symptoms and can’t get to speak to my gp.
Does anyone have any tips to relieve it at all?

You’re gona have to go total low fat in terms of diet-that should give you some relief in the interim

Have you tried buscopan?

Thisismeme · 27/02/2025 18:15

@VivaLaSpag sorry I should have said I’m barely eating. When I do it’s literally homemade soup (fat free) or poached chicken breast (virtually fat free too) and white rice.

Sorry you're in pain. I had my gallbladder removed last summer so I know how truly awful it is.

The only thing that worked for me was 30mg strength co-codamol prescribed by my GP for when an 'attack' started. Over the counter strength pain relief didn't help.

It didn't remove the pain entirely but did make the flare ups more manageable when they hit.

Sorry, just re-read your post and saw you can't see your GP so my post won't help much.

Peppermint tea works surprisingly well for me.

Could it be a stone that’s stuck? Keep an eye on the symptoms, look out for jaundice, fever, high temperature. Go to A&E if you get those. Had mine out a few years ago and it was the best thing I ever did.

Buy this - it is fantastic, Read the reviews. It really will sort you out. Sorry you are suffering. I was diagnosed with gallstones (loads) over 10 years ago and thankfully have managed to keep my gallbladder. I keep it under control with a ketogenic diet so rarely an issue, but have these to hand if I get the odd niggle. (My husband has a few gallstones (according to his scans) and he takes them often - he eats a lot of sugar and carbs and his gallbladder flares from time to time (more than mine).

Planetary Herbals, Stone Free®, 90 Tablets

A friend has just cancelled her gallbladder removal operation having bought Chanca Piadra (buy from Amazon) having been back and forth with flare ups and pancreatitis. It has changed her life.

There is a lot of misinformation about the role fat plays in your diet and many now attribute gallstones to years of low fat diets. It is not for me to convince you, but it is worth having a read at some of the research and literature online.

Best of luck. Hope you get relief soon.

I found a Hot water bottle on the most painful areas made a huge difference. I haven't had a problem for a few years although the scan showed gallstones but never travel without a small hot water bottle.
If your pee looks like black tea, your skin looks a bit yellow or your stools are the colour of putty you need to be seen as likely a stone blocking the bile duct.
