Would you go to work tomorrow?

Don't know what's wrong with me, but for the last 2 days I've been very tired and achy with a blinding headache. No cold symptoms.

The next 3 days are absolutely crucial for my employer and I play a crucial part in what's required. Probably the most important thing in the last 3 years. We're a very small company there's not anyone else who could do it.

They're not great employers and I have actually already resigned, but I also have a degree of professional pride, and I really would be leaving them in the lurch.

Otoh, they really will tell me if I go in and they think I'm not up to scratch!

I am unwell, but if I was enjoying work more I'd probably make myself get on with it.

If you're not well don't. You owe them nothing and it's only decency that you don't pass your germs about.....

GoldenPineapple15 · 24/02/2025 18:45

I would .

I would - but this describes me most of the time due to chronic health conditions.

Take some pain killers, go to bed early and see how you feel in the morning.

NuffSaidSam · 24/02/2025 18:47

I'd ask at work. Let them know that you're ill (potentially contagious, potentially not at your best) and let them choose. Don't suffer in silence.

MassiveOvaryaction · 24/02/2025 18:48

Is working at home an option? I've been much the same the last few days (actually left work early Friday due to blinding headache which made me vom). Headache largely at bay today when taking regular pain relief (but deffo know when next dose is due!) so worked at home. Going to try going in tomorrow.

If your reference doesn't depend on you being part of the action though and you genuinely feel you won't manage to work then don't put yourself out.

My tonsilitis started like that, 2days banging headache, extreme fatigue, sore neck, on the 3rd day my throat started to hurt.
and on 4th day I ve been prescribed antibiotics.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 24/02/2025 18:49

I'd call in sick op, especially as you're leaving anyway - a sick day doesn't undo all you've done for them x

SwanRivers · 24/02/2025 18:50

Yes I'd take some painkillers for the headache and go.
