Tim Burton exhibition

Has anyone been to see this - at the Design Museum?

I'm wondering if it's worth the cost. Of course I accept that it costs money to put on exhibitions. But I've seen some people saying it's not up to much. Also, I have to factor in the train fare, and the journey across to that side of town.

Thanks.

I have plans to go next week, so would love to hear too

It's absolutely worth the money, it's terrific.

I went a few weeks ago and was in there for about 2 hours and still didn't manage to get round it all as well as I'd liked. There is so much to see. There's his early career as an animator, all his film making including costumes and then all his art work which is amazing. Even if you're not a massive fan of his films, his art is wonderful. And it's really good fun too.

I'm going to go again and take all my family with me.

You won't be disappointed.

They also do a fabulous looking Tim Burton cream tea which looks delicious!

Hope you have a lovely time!

Just to say, I also work in museum in London so I know how much work goes into putting exhibitions on and how they can often not be fun or engaging. I'm surprised some have said it's not very good.

But then I'm fascinated by how some people have an amazing imagination and talent and can be so creative so it ticked that box for me.

Actually, one of the people who said it took her kids along and was disappointed. There was nothing interactive. Before I spoke to her and one other colleague, I was quite keen.

Also, I guess some people are never happy!

That is true, there's nothing interactive but then it's more of an art exhibition than something you'd find say at the Science Museum with buttons and what not.

The film costumes and models were great to get close to though.

Like I said, I am fascinated by the artistic process so maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much.

@Springchicken25 I see "nothing interactive" as a plus. She said they were only there an hour which initially made me think there wasn't much there.

I went, it displays his scribbles and documents processes in coming up with characters and some original prototypes or models for characters and some original costumes which is enlightening but also takes away the magic and glamour of it. It's sad to see how tired and haggered some of the pisces. I've just come back from Young V and A's making Egypt exihibition and some pieces there circa 2000+ years ago looked in better condition. However, it is a good display if you are a teen or older and deeply interested in Tim Burton's work or the artistic process of animation. It was very busy. It's worth going if you are animation nerdy or a huge fan of Tim Burton and like to look at his drawings aa most of it was his drawings.
