My dermatologist recommended Faith in Nature. They sell unperfumed shampoo and conditioner. Check the ingredients though In case you are allergic to anything.
I also find Aussie products very mild.

Which ones are you reacting to? Might be able to see common ingredient and then avoid it?

I have eczema on my hands too (it's under control now) and Faith in nature is fine for me. Cerave and la Roche posay Toleraine good for face washing. I wash my hands with silcocks base and don't use normal soap.

I have nonidea what I'm reacting to.
Dr's don't care.

I know I get a flare up on my hands after washing my hair though.

I had horrible contact dermatitis last year. I worked out it was raw potatoes and raw chicken.

I now wear disposable gloves and it has stopped. Can you do that for a bit whilst you find a different shampoo/conditioner?

It might be the SLS in hair products. Faith in nature is free from SLS. I used to put latex gloves on for the shower and tie the ends with elastic bands as a dermatologist told me to do this to keep them dry. I personally don't think it made a difference and was such a faff so I stopped but it might help you.

SummerFeverVenice · 22/02/2025 20:51

SLS is a common irritant, but it is also commonly found in liquid hand soap and many toothpastes. So might be another irritant like linalool (derived from wool- which some people are allergic to) or a benzoate (used as preservatives) as it’s only affecting your hands when you wash your hair.

I would check everything you use on your hands and compare the ingredients in them to what you use on your hair.

Second a couple of suggestions here- avoid perfume, avoid SLS. Treat hands when dried, Nursem unscented (white tube) good for this, no grease so you can carry on as normal. (If you are in need of options.)

MooGoo

MooGoo

Was about to also recommend this.

My husband struggles with hand eczema and uses aveeno baby 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner as it's SLS free and I think fragrance free. He also uses an emollient as a soap and disposable gloves for preparing food or changing nappies, and of course applies an emollient a million times a day esp. after contact with water. Good luck!

WGACA · 22/02/2025 21:25

I use Moo Goo too.

Another vote for Faith in Nature! I get eczema and contact dermatitis on my hands and face mostly, (as well as hives on my face sometimes which I have no idea why but suspect when I've had rubber gloves on and then touch my face).......always use Faith in Nature and have no problems with that as they only use essential oils and no artificial perfumes. Also use their lavender body lotion.
