How do I help my mum

My poor mother took a brutal fall whilst on a run yesterday. She was pushed over by another runner/passer by. She’s not sure if it was actually another runner or someone who was running away from something and just pushed her in the process. She is still a little shaken up. We have come away for a small break which was pre booked but she is very bruised and swollen. I took her to an and e immediately as her lip was bust open and her head was bleeding profusely. I’ve cried alone about it as I don’t want to upset her anymore and tbh I don’t really want to ring a friend and talk about it either. I’ve got her plenty of ibuprofen to ensure she is managing the swelling. All I can describe it as is, as though she’s had lip filler dissolved and a nose job all at the same time. She’s really swollen. If anyone has any advice on healing and supporting her I’d appreciate it.

Hi OP

I’m really sorry your mum had such a nasty experience, and that you are so upset -I would be too.

No medical suggestions, but just to say that when my mum had a facial injury it looked horrendous and was painful, but once the swelling went down it was much easier and she didn’t have any lasting scars.

Hope you both have a relaxing time on your break.

Are you sure it wasn't intentional? An assault? Please report to police.

Icepack to reduce swelling.

I'm so sad about what happened. I hope and wish for your mom to recover quickly and fully. Hopefully, she will receive the best care and support possible.

Do you think it’s worth talking to the police about it to see what they can do? CCTV, witnesses, and so on.
