Has anyone else got one of those skinny see through spiders living in their bathroom 😆?

There's always one. Never moves, doesn't seem to eat and just hangs out by the shoe rack in our downstairs loo.

If you blow on it gently it is alive.

Do you think it would prefer to live outside. There's nothing going on in it's life it's just there.

Months now!

We had one in our downstairs toilet for about 8 years. Felt like that long anyway. I think his name was Spencer.

unsync · 19/02/2025 18:27

It's a cobweb spider. Don't look too closely anywhere else, they are everywhere, watching you and just hanging out.

Gilead · 19/02/2025 18:28

They eat the hairy fat ones.

Tcateh · 19/02/2025 18:29

Wow that's a long time.

What do they eat??

Lol I only ever seen one!!

Spencer 😂😂😂

There are lots of them in here- I leave them well alone as they eat the big house spiders, of which I’m less keen on.

feelingalittlehorse · 19/02/2025 18:52

There are some caveats to that, however;

The remain in situ in their designated corner.
They do not go on the furniture.
No breeding.

Gettingbysomehow · 19/02/2025 18:56

I keep them. I've had no big hairy spiders in the house since I let the spindly ones stay.

LeaveALittleNote · 19/02/2025 19:02

Our house is absolutely full of them. If go around with a jar and put them all outside (which takes a while as there are so many!) there will be more within a day.

UtterlyOtterly · 19/02/2025 19:03

We are a skinny spider sanctuary. I actually apologised to one the other day when I had to move some things and disturbed it.

They don't appear to be harmful in any way and they couldn't be less scary if they tried.

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 19/02/2025 19:04

You can't get rid of them unless you dust every single corner every day. We call them cellar spiders. Long spindly legs, hang upside down. They stay put and don't hurt anyone. The ones in our bathroom are called Steve and Janet.

Fairyliz · 19/02/2025 19:06

Do you mean daddy long legs?

HerbertVonDoodlebug · 19/02/2025 19:06

They are called corner spiders in our house. We have a mutual non aggression pact. I can’t see how they would catch the big hairy spiders though, as the big ones live at ground level and these guys live in the ceiling corners?

NoseyFarkers · 19/02/2025 19:06

We have them in all the corners.

They eat housespiders...the big black ones. I'm happy to welcome as many spindlies as want to live here if they keep the big buggers away.

I've seen one of mine in action. He abseiled down, wrapped the big fat one up in silk thread, then winched him back up to his corner, where he slowly ate him over the course of about a fortnight.

He lives in the corner of my en suite. His name is Mr Richard Spindley.

ItWasntMyFault · 19/02/2025 19:13

The skinny cellar spiders eat the big fat scary ones. I let cellar spiders stay.

ladymalfoy45 · 19/02/2025 19:16

My cat eats them. So we are all safe.
However, we had a sample of insect based dry food. She was not impressed.

noblegiraffe · 19/02/2025 19:18

My Bathroom Buddy disappeared last week and hasn't come back, so I suspect he is an ex Bathroom Buddy. Sad times.

IHadaMarvelousTimeRuiningEverything · 19/02/2025 19:19

Yes they're cellar spiders. I was once sat up in bed with my newborn many years ago in the early hours and witnessed a full-on fight between a cellar spider and a house spider on the ceiling. The cellar spider made short work of the fat hairy house spider.

Krimmer22 · 19/02/2025 19:20

They are cellar spiders

I know, weird huh? I was always sceptical about whether or not this was true, until I witnessed it myself. I actually like the big fat hairy house spiders too though so was a bit sad, but hey, they've got to eat!
