Would you take baby swimming with no nap?

Baby swim session is at 11:45. It’s a ten minute drive plus getting in and out of car / changing.

Baby has just turned five months and, Sod’s Law, hasn’t gone down for morning nap. Is currently crying on me and nothing is soothing her.

So if we went swimming then she’d have been awake for nearly four hours once we were all done.

Today is not meant to be the day, is it?!

Do you think she’s poorly or just being fussy?
Tbh as long as she wasn’t showing any signs of being unwell what have you got to lose by taking her?

Go earlier and have a drive. She will probably fall asleep in the car and wake up ready for swimming.

I wouldn’t let naps rule your day just carry on ☺️

Yes this, get in the car asap and drive around until she sleeps then either keep driving till swimming time or park up if you can without her waking.

It can take her 45 mins to fall asleep in the car and it’s not always guaranteed!

I would still go.

Pop both of your costumes on before you leave the house and the swim will probably guarantee she has a really good nap this afternoon.

RafaistheKingofClay · 19/02/2025 10:51

I’d sack it off if she’s obviously overtired. I can’t see there’s much to be gained except stressing you both out.

I’d go asap. Drive around and hope baby sleeps in car before lesson. Then fingers crossed a nice longer afternoon nap.

But you know your baby best whether that would work or not. If baby won’t sleep in car and you think they’re going to be hysterical through lesson then you can abandon plan

I managed to get a 20 minute nap out of her and then decided to wake her up 😱 to take her. She loved it! Thanks so much all 😊
