Having a wobble

Made a bit of a fuck up this evening, won't go into it but it's now affected me and my anxiety is through the roof.
I'm basically worrying about something I know will blow over and I won't think much off in a week or so's time, but how do you deal with it in the moment when you just feel like a piece of shite and overthink?

Well if it's any consolation OP I'm so stressed up and anxious because of the events of the day my stomach is in knots and although I feel exhausted I don't expect to sleep for a few hours.
It's one thing to know breathing exercises and relaxation techniques that are supposed to help in situations like this. But it's quite another to actually do them.

We all do it op.

I try to reason with myself - is this something I can resolve or solve right at this minute - if yes then I do what I need to, if not then I set an alarm for the time I'll deal with it and try to mentally leave it for then. I may also write down a quick plan of action for what I'll do to get in front of it.

Then I try to stay busy, talk to someone about it, meditate and do belly breathing, exercise and focus on trying to get a decent night's sleep so I'm mentally in the best state to solve it the next day. It takes practice though.

When this happens to me I consciously keep moving my brain/thoughts away from it. I think of another topic I can let my thoughts drift in, could be anything in my life or made up - imagining redecorating my whole house, picking colours and furniture in my head, thinking of a meal plan and imagining going round the shop picking all the items, anything really that can keep my mind busy. It's like trying to keep a car on the road, every time I start to drift back to the cringey thoughts and feelings I point myself back to something else.

Reminding myself "This to will pass" helps too.

You breathe, you tell yourself just what you've said here - you know it will blow over and I won't think much off in a week or so's time

........... and then you sit and cringe for a bit ! ......... 🫣🫣😂

Honestly, we've all been there! - we've all needed to just sit and feel what an idiot we've been and how we should have handled things better.
Sometimes we need to feel sorry for ourselves .... and then we can then just process it and make sense of it and get it out of our system .....

Tomorrow you'll feel less of an idiot .......... and the day after, you'll wonder what you were worrying about!

(would love to know what you feel you've done that's so worrying tho x )
