I can feel a cold coming on meaning I will probably wake up tomorrow feeling like death, does anyone have any tips or tricks they try to prevent a cold coming on or to reduce the longevity of a cold. I already take vitamin c and zinc daily and multivitamins.

Paracetamol, honey & hot lemon, antihistamines & a huge box of tissues.

Vit C + Vit D + Monolaurin (a naturally derived antiviral)

Warm bath, fresh pj's & an early night.

If you have a headache maybe a paracetamol but I don't usually bother.

I find the above combo heads off colds, flu, sore throats and non-specific feeling 'off'.

Echinaforce echinacea tablets

First Defence at the first tickle, then repeat a few times daily.

Try using a facial primer around your nostrils to limit soreness.

High strength vitamin c and zinc tablets you dissolve into water.

There was an episode of inside health about this a few weeks ago, the only thing that has any significant impact (and even then it's only half a day fewer symptoms I think) was saline spray up your nose.

I, personally, batton down the hatches and bulk buy lemsip.

Zinc, lozenge or tablet, asap after feeling a cold coming on, take as directed.
Oregano oil, capsules or liquid.

Rest, a good diet, that saline nose spray from the chemist(recently proven to help) and plenty of sleep. Showers may also help.

There's First Defence as well which is supposedly clinically proven to help... https://www.vicks.co.uk/products/early-cold-treatments/vicks-first-defence-nasal-spray

I am currently suffering from a fairly rotten cold. Paracetamol and Ibuprofen to help with the general bleurgh, a saline nasal rinse to try to unclog my nose, fake Night Nurse to help me sleep at night. Making sure I drink plenty to help thin out the gunk. Just got to let it run it's course and help mitigate the symptoms.

Used first defence last night and woke up feeling similar and not worse which I’m taking as a win!

Thank you for the suggestions x

You need to keep using it regularly over a few days for it to work. Gives the body time to produce the antibodies to fight off the virus.
