Do you have a wool pillow?

What's it like? Would you recommend? Can you wash it and if so, does it go clumpy?

Definitely recommend! I feel much better in terms of general health when I’m using mine - and dislike having to stay away from home and making do with other people’s inferior pillows.

I empty the wool filling into a big bag when the pillow covers need washing.

And they don’t turn clumpy if you give them a good thumping and shaking every morning.

I found mine really really uncomfortable. Lumpy. Which was a shame as I love my wool duvet.

Yes I have one a Baavet it has a zip so you can take the wool out occasionally and de clump it, you don’t need to wash the wool as it’s naturally anti microbial allegedly and it does seem ok. It’s 6 years old.I had the wool duvets too got rid of the high tog one as it was just too heavy, but have alight one for summer which is also ace.

My winter weight wool duvet is probably one of my most adored possessions. Grin

Yes, but it gets quite lumpy. I've ended up putting a normal pillow on top of it (rather than the other way around as I'd planned to do). I absolutely love my wool duvet though!

UselessMumAlert · 18/02/2025 15:13

So the wool filling doesn't need washing. Ever? Or could you wash it on a normal wool wash? Or would it break the drum of the machine from the weight when it's wet...?

No, I’ve never attempted to wash the wool. I might air it occasionally. I wash the pillow covers that contain the wool as needed.

It would kill your washing machine - and washing isn’t necessary anyway.

I have one, but like others, find it lumpy, so it's there as an extra pillow rather than the one I sleep on. My wool duvet though, that's a thing of beauty and I wouldn't go back to any other filling. It's just lovely.

Pancakeflipper · 18/02/2025 15:31

Not dared a wool pillow but heard you can just hang them on the washing line to air.

Got a wool duvet - it's just lovely.

EmotionalSupportBlanket · 18/02/2025 22:30

I adore my wool pillows. My sleep is so much more comfortable. Make sure to get one that you can remove the filling from so that you can wash the cover and fluff the filling.

One midnight purchase later.... I have a wool pillow. It's very comfy but, my god, it stinks! Is that normal? Is it just because it's new and it will dissipate over a time? It's a waxy woollen smell and I swear I stink of it in the morning. It is comfy though.
