Do you have a side hustle? If so, what it is?

I’m looking to earn extra cash aside from my main job. Predominantly something I can do from home.
I tried matched betting but it seemed very fiddly for not a lot of reward.

How much do online surveys pay?

What's your main job? And your kind of location? IME the best paid side hustles are linked to your expertise. So I work in a operations niche and have been approached about/have started to offer consulting sessions which pay miles higher than surveys etc. Teachers can tutor, people in admin can pick up jobs on upwork.

Locally someone who loves baking has started up one of these sourdough/cake sheds on the weekends and must make a decent sum, we are in a suburb of the Home Counties where there's quite high demand.

And then the old, unexciting option of just picking up pub/waitressing shifts - though obviously not WFH. Again location dependent but in London you can sign up to agencies for this kind of thing and pick up shifts ad hoc.

I've tried doing surveys before and it seemed a lot of faff for not much cash, some people seem to make money every month off it, but that wasn't my experience.

Thanks, I work in healthcare in a quite advanced fairly niche role. I earn relatively very well, but I’m injured at the moment so looking for alternative ways to make money as my earnings are limited whilst I recover. Just dont want to have all my eggs in one basket. I have 2 toddlers which is making me money hungry right now.

Not enough! Prolific is the best IMO, and can make £20-30 a week fairly easily.

I also do Prime Opinion, but you need to spend quite a lot of time to make a few quid.

roses2 · 17/02/2025 21:52

I do:

  • Royal Mail surveys. Get free stamps which I use when I post stuff I've sold on ebay
  • mystery dining. Don't get a fee per se but a nice meal out expenses covered
  • job related surveys which pay £30 a go. Typically get 1-2 per month

Peanuts.

CatsandHedgehogsAreCute · 17/02/2025 22:03

I do some online surveys when im watching tv, they do not earn alot at all. They can also be frustrating when you have spent time answering questions then you are declined, so dont get paid. Prolific is a good site to try but lots of surveys are pence rather than pounds, thats if you can reserve them in time.

I'm looking at MB. I follow 2 groups on Facebook people seem to make at least a couple of hundred pounds a month.

I've signed up to viewerslogic . They give you points for your internect activity. I earn around £20 a month for doing nothing.

I've been doing it for ages and nothing untoward has happened

Ooo how do you become a mystery diner?

QueSyrahSyrah · 17/02/2025 23:39

I do social media marketing from home for a couple of small businesses that don't have the time / resources / knowledge to do it in house, but my day job is marketing too.

Redrosesposies · 17/02/2025 23:41

I joined Yougov and it took me a year to get 50 quid. Probably only got one survey a week but the last couple of months hardly any came through and I thought I would never get to 5000 points.
I took cash rather than a voucher.
Since then I've had 2 or 3 a week sent to me but I can't be arsed doing them. They took about 10 minutes each time and were mostly about TV.

What do you mean? Do they have access to everything that you're doing online?
