This sunshine we have has got me excited for summer (despite the bitter cold!)
We're off to Cornwall - what are you favourite things to do/places to visit in Cornwall and Devon? I'll add mine below.

Minack theatre is gorgeous on a sunny day.
Porthcurno beach, just below, is dead pretty. Car park was a pain though and the beach sloped quite steeply, so not great for young kids.

Port Isaac. Such a beautiful place.Especially if you're a Doc Martin fan!

Lucky you. I absolutely luuuurve Cornwall! I agree with your choices. I’d like to add Bedruthan Steps. Tricky to access if you’re not very mobile, but the reward is the most stunning beach. I like Mevagissy too and so many cute fishing villages. Devon is stunning as well, Dartmouth being my favourite place there.

South Devon -

Totnes - Olive Pots, steam train

Salcombe

Bigbury Beach and Burgh Island, Agatha Christie

Dartmouth - castle, steam railway, Naval college tour

Plymouth - Royal William Yard, The Box, The Hoe, The Barbican

Dartmoor and Tavistock

Tate St Ives!

weegiemum · 17/02/2025 13:53

We were there years ago and most things have been mentioned.

Could I add going Coasteering? Our dc had a fabulous morning jumping off cliffs and scrambling over rocks and generally loving it. We did it through a firm in Padstow but there are bound to be more places.

While they were doing it dh and I went out for a lovely brunch too!

Cornwall is great- apart from getting fleeced for parking EVERYWHERE. On a non beach, slightly overcast day you might decide to go for a drive, the loop around west Cornwall, Pz and back around. If you call into 5 beaches, just to stroll down to the sea, that's £25-30 in parking, if you can find any! Even off season.

Which is the haunted pub in Looe?

Carnglaze caverns, if you have children say young teens and under is a great little attraction. The family who run it is lovely and it’s just a nice day out without a soft play or gift shop of plastic tat. And they have a really nice cafe.

Delphy Pool for their wild spa sessions. They also do diving/free diving/open water swimming sessions.

I really like the beach at Freathy in Whitsand Bay. There is a big car park, but it’s a proper wild beach still. Low tide and do be mindful of the tides coming back in. And weever fish - wear water shoes on all sandy Cornish beaches.
