Has anyone bought Turtle Dove wrist warmers recently?

A few years ago I bought some Turtle Doves wrist warmers as recommended by Mumsnet.

I still wear them often and noticed they have a sale on so was thinking of getting some more. However, the reviews say the quality has declined and they're not as soft and thinner than they remember. I notice that some are now made overseas and are also described as 'cashmere blend', whereas some are UK made and apparently 100% cashmere.

If anyone has bought these recently, what's your experience?

I have 5 pairs, 4 I've had for a few years and I got a new pair last month and they are definitely different. Not as soft

I had been wondering about these. Having seen them highly recommended over the years I finally bought a pair before Christmas. I was really disappointed but thought it was just me expecting too much. Wish I had returned them now.

I also have an older pair that I love and a newer pair that are OK.

I was also surprised to see the change in manufacturing location.

I bought a neck warmer in their recent £20 sale, and it was nearly OK for the money, but I would have felt hard done by if I'd paid any more. So, I think I'm out.

I hadn’t realised that Turtle Doves had changed. Luckily I have a few pairs from a few years ago which are still going strong so I haven’t needed to buy any more recently, but good to know that I need to look elsewhere when I do!

I bought from Turtle Doves over a period of a couple of years (I was the OP on the Christmas bargain thread a few years ago when the 'seconds' were on ebay for £7.99) they were a bit hit and miss size wise, the price went up and I went looking for alternatives.

This lady is amazing. I've used her for the past year and ordered loads for myself, DD and my Mum (we are all disabled / have reynauds) the quality and workmanship is faultless and I love the fact that I'm supporting a small business (which clearly TD isn't anymore)

Thanks for the link, I've just ordered a pair.

Same here! What a shame

I recommend nearly new cashmere too, had a pair which I think came free with a pashmina (a gift for travelling) and they are far softer than my turtle doves (which are the old sort and are still in great condition). Nnc ads will follow you around everywhere if you view their website tho (probably true of TDs as well).

Something has gone terribly wrong with Turtle Doves recently; quality, customer service, postage costs, delivery time etc etc. I was one of their biggest fans, but have had problem after problem recently.
How can they charge £3,95 second class, for postage of goods that weigh 55gms?
I bought a scarf, only to be told 8 days later that they didn't have it in stock. I was refunded minus the postage costs! Outrageous.

Now you mention it, the pair I got this winter are looking very bobbly and old compared to the ones I got a few years ago.

I have heard this a so many times now and yes, I was avid turtles doves fan until recently as the quality as gone down hill and the items where thin and no where near as good as they used to be, also understand that they are being made in different country, which is probably why there price as gone down considerably.
I have found another company called Cuddle me cashmere, who I have bought from recently and there products are excellent quality and they are handmade in Shropshire and yes from 100% recycled cashmere and many more products than turtle doves

I must be a cheapskate. I just chopped the end off a pair of socks, and made a hole in the side for my thumb. Perfect for typing on cold days.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 01/05/2025 19:38

I had an email from them yesterday about their new 'summer range'. Basically, it was hats, bags and overpriced £89 cotton picnic blankets. I suppose they are similar prices to Celtic & Co who I think were also bought out by the same company. I'm going to unsubscribe to their emails. Definitely supporting independent sellers and those that sell at local craft markets going forward.

Minky Wales me too, sort of. I bought a cashmere jumper from Ebay which was advertised as in good condition. It was immediately obvious that it had shrunk quite badly as I had the same in another colour and coud do a side by side.

Got a refund, got the sewing machine out and that jumper has kept me in wristwarmers for about ten years now.
