Scanning old pictures?

What's the best way for me to scan old pictures? Is there a good app I can use on my iPhone or a cheapish printer/scanner I could grab today in maybe a supermarket or Argos?

Any advice welcome, I'm on a slight time limit and want to give it my best shot

I dont have an iPhone so this may not be an option but I use Google drive as a scanner on my phone

Max Spielman can scan them onto a USB for you. I think they charge about 70p per photo so not cheap but it's quick and easy, and they have high resolution scanners. Think they give a discount for high volumes.

There’s an app called Photoscan which is pretty good

Rather depends on what resolution you need to scan them at.

Perhaps you could elaborate as to your intended purpose, i.e. just so you can look at them on your computer, or so you want to be able to print them?

I need to give the originals to someone else so was looking to have copies, digital is fine but I may want to print in the future.

If you want to print them you may want to "capture" them at a higher resolution than using the camera on your phone, unless you're printing them quite small.

I would suggest using a flatbed scanner. If you can't access one, a basic new one can be as little as £54. or Link (more expensive ones will be faster and even higher resolution).

Either way I would advise making a test print to ensure your workflow is producing the require results.

Thanks everyone, I'm going to try the app and failing that buy a scanner. It's unlikely I will want/need to print anything but it wouldn't hurt to keep my options open
