Home security cameras

I recently got a pet camera for indoors and I like to because I can keep an eye on my pet when I am not at home and get cute moments recorded too.

I am thinking of a home security camera for outside.

The reason is I was harassed for 10 years from the fall out of a friendship. .the police did nothing to help me and said it was a civil matter. Sorting this through civils courts was also difficult because solicitors just didn't want to work with me. I reckon the person harassing me has a group B personality disorder and there are professionals who will not touch people like that. This was said to me in a casual manner from a person who does work professionally. The reason being is if something doesn't go their way (as in ground b way) they set out to often revenge and destroy and there's no end to it.

10 years of a harassment campaign. The harassment was mainly electronic by messages and online. Taking steps to block her and changing numbers never worked and it angered her and she increased her harassment to anyone associated with me.

It has quitened down a lot now. I think it's been 5-6 weeks of a quite spell from her and this is the first 5-6 week quite spell for the first time since it all started from her. Usually she is triggered in her own world to keep lashing out over and over and over again. This is the first quite spell from her. Although she probably just found someone else to harass.

I am thinking about an outdoor camera for the outside driveway. It's just in case her harassment was to ever change direction and she started turning up at my home or she sends other people to the home.

I need to get advice about this. Would this be a good idea? Would I need to display a sign - CCTV in operation?

All help welcome.

Ring doorbells are a game changer. They record all the time and even if they get smashed/stolen the footage is on your phone. We have them front and back. About £70 to initially buy and literally a few pounds for subscription.

Not long after I moved to my current home I started having problems with local youths vandalising my hedge.
So I bought one of the really reasonably priced Tapo cameras available and put it in my upstairs bedroom window to monitor my hedge and garden at the front of the house. It's primarily for indoor use but works really well for outside. And links to my phone so I can see what's happening outside and I can record and download incidents as necessary.
I thought I needed to put a notice up that the camera was in operation and I did this for a short time. I actually hoped the notice would be a deterrent but the local youths saw it as a challenge! I've actually talked to the police about this and they told me I didn't need a notice.
Since then I've purchased 2 more cameras - one in the kitchen to monitor the back garden, and one in the hall to monitor the side garden.
I wouldn't be without the cameras now.

Yes, I have a tapo camera for my pet and I love it.

It's something I am really considering.

It's been 7 years since this person turned up at my home to shout at me.

It's been 5 years since she sent two strangers to my door to buy a used car (fake car). She just wanted to send people to my door.

I actually honestly don't know what way she will take her campaign and no one knows.

I lived happily and comfortably for a long time without cameras. I am worried and concerned now because there is silence from her. Is this her getting bored with her campaign and stopping the harassment or is it her just planning and scheming a different way. I just don't know.

That sounds really worrying behaviour OP.

My feeling is for the price of the cameras like the Tapo ones it would be very worthwhile you getting at least one to cover your front door. There isn't any installation involved if you just put the camera on a window sill so you can remove it at any point.

These days I only check the camera footage for a specific reason, such as if I've noticed signs someone has been interfering with my garden at all, or if I want to check the bin men have been and the wheelie needs taken in. There is no need to continually look at it.

Hopefully this person has lost interest in harassing you but I do think having a camera as a precaution would make sense. A couple of the youths I had problems with eventually got charged with harassing me and the police being able to view the footage of their behaviour outside my home was quite important in making them take things seriously.
